Cornwall

Newquay has turned into an awful place, full of students & stag do's
Funny place Nequay. Elements of Great Yarmouth, Blackpool, Skegness...
But the top end still has that cool vibe (around Fistral). Tend to go for at least one day when down, really just to pop into Fistral out of nostalgia.

There's a few cool surfy beaches (not the out of reach, quieter beaches) I love going to, purely for that surf element (Watergate Bay for example).

Another favourite (but busy) is Porthmeor in St. Ives. The light there is stunning. Always think Cornwall is hard to capture in film or photography....there's this magical element you have to imbibe in the flesh.

Anyone done Healyes Cider Farm? Not quite the Eden project but definitely kills a few hours.

Surprised by Falmouth. Nearest thing to a city down there. Suspect it would be a great place to be a student.

They hate Plymouth

Mainly Rugby fans I found.. They have the Pirates who are basically an Exeter Chiefs feeder team so that's who they support.

And you're telling me to fuck off because I witnessed a lot of racism in Cornwall?
I am cornish and i lived in plymouth for six years , we argue over pasties and cream teas not football, you are calling cornish people racist so yes i am telling you that

Yeah because like I said they prefer Rugby.

I've lived in Plymouth for 10 years and counting and have worked in Cornwall for 3...and counting.
Also I said most of the full blown racism i came across was not from actual Cornish people rather the people that have moved there from more diverse parts of the country.

I get shit daily because I live in Plymouth. Cornish tend to take great pleasure in telling me what a shit hole it is. I've had customers turn sour on me due to being Plymouth, mainly oldies. It's good old neighbourly hatred.

No mate. Since she's cornish (and therefore racist) I expect she's telling you to fuck off because she thinks you are foreign or black or something. Just let her know you are of white anglo-saxon stock and I'm sure she'll mellow.

Take back saying the cornish are racist then , when i was born the oldies were old school, proud of being cornish , impossible to understand when they spoke , i had a broad accent that i lost along the way . They dont like the influx of tourists and out of towners moving in , it is hard to get the old school ones to let you in, i liken them to the old greeks, they hate the tourists spoiling their towns but have no choice as they need the money

I didn't say the Cornish are racist. I said Cornwall is full of racists..There's a difference

I think Cornish are racist because they’re all pasty-faced people

I don’t hate argyle, or Plymouth. Taken the kids up on the train to watch them play Carlyle when Keith Curle was managing them.
Just as a neutral. Cracking day out.
Alternatively you might ask the bloke next door and he might say the opposite, although he’s from the north, as are my parents who moved down here in the70s.
Just like anywhere else there’s such a wide demographic.
The fact that the place gets invaded to the point where the locals can’t get near the beaches and other beauty spots because the population swells by a lot in the summer and young locals can’t find houses let alone afford them leaves a slightly sour taste and an almost anti tourist undercurrent.

On the flip side to that I have very good friends who run holiday homes, surf schools and cafes etc who thrive on it.
At the end of the day though I consider myself very fortunate to live somewhere where thousands of people drive hundreds of miles to spend their free time.

And you’re probably not a bellend.

He was implying that racists had moved from elsewhere in the country to live there, not that the Cornish were racists.

Would have to tell Andy Morrison if you did.

I get that. I'd hate grockles too if i didn't make money from them. So many homes in Cornwall are somebody up the line's 2nd home so I understand the locals grievances.

Yeah Cornwall is superb. Wouldn't live there myself only because I prefer the hustle and bustle of a city life and not knowing everything about everyone.

Nah I am

Healeys Cider farm - used to be free !!. Follow the road further round and go to the Callestick ice cream factory instead or as well.

Not been for a few years but loved the tasting sessions on the way around.
Think they've pimped it up a bit so not surprised the price has gone up...
