Or he could have underperformed in training and Laporte could have been better? Or Laporte is gonna be needed next month with fixtures pilling up so now would be a good time to get some game time. Or Stones could just need a rest. Who knows but Laporte is more than good enough

Full of utter drama queens on here today. If he had played stones and cancelo and they would have got injured then the very same know it all muppets would be crying about that as well. We’ve got to rotate otherwise we turn into the dippers and burn all our best players out. Beautifully balanced team today. It’s a strong team but I do worry about our creativity against parked buses without Cancelo in the side.

I’m surprised to see the Dias/Stones partnership broken up. Laporte is a class act but those two have been fantastic for some time now.

How things change so quickly in football - they've been two of our best for the past two/three seasons.

No issues at all with the selection today - some key players rested and glad that it looks like Torres is getting a proper crack on the wing.

Yes it is. Laporte is soft defender with passing qualities. Everything else is average.

Laporte has made a fair few mistakes in big games, but across his City career so far he’s been a stand-out player in this league in the non-big games, and still excellent in the big games he’s played well and not made mistakes in.

Walker is the worst player we have on the ball, so why he starts?

Around October he was arguably our best player this season. And Cancelo can rest up for the slog that is February. Have faith in the squad. We aren’t going to win a double/treble with only 11 players.
