Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

I believe Henry's other plaything 'The Boston Red Sox' have form for cheating too. It must be a hereditary thing in the turkey neck's DNA.
He certainly has form for cheating.
To think that this cheeky bastard was asking who signed the cheque from our sponsors when their sponsors are proven criminals laundering money for terrorists and murderers.

Funny how I enjoy football as a whole more when we are winning.
Last night was the icing on the cake as I got the headline I craved for-

"Jesus beats Pope".

Unfortunately corruption within English football is far more deep rooted than Mike Riley - the few decent and honest Refs in the game are the ones that get forced out. Ask yourself why do all Premier league refs have to sign a 'compromise agreement' when they retire - it stinks to high heaven.
My point is that Riley is head of PGMOL and he has overseen a massive fall in the quality of our refs. He is also to blame for the way in which VAR is used, when done properly it will be a massive improvement but it’s been a mess ergo last nights non penalty. It’s completely down to him, things will only improve when we have a top quality man in charge. I note your comment about corruption, I think that is part of the issue with PGMOL

It was Paul Dempsey, the former Sky Boxing anchor.

You heard me right, anchor ;)
The most irritating commentator I’ve ever known. He talked way too much. Silence is as much a tool of a good commentator as as words. We don’t need him to say “Bernardo attacking down the right. Cuts it back to Stones” etc. That’s for the radio. And those pronunciations were stupid. Bernaaadew, Diash etc. He doesn’t have to be a Ron Atkinson but it just sounds forced like that. Just to add to it, his accent is totally unplaceable and that got on my tits too. There’s an element of Rhoticity to it which doesn’t fit.

He sounded like one of the Wurzels

Brought to mind Joe Mercer's brilliant punditry during the 1970 World Cup, referring to Eusebio, Cruyff and Pele as "Eusibo", "Johen Croft", and "Peel". I've always thought that Joe only did it for a laugh.

I think some of you need to get over a commentator making an effort to pronounce the players' names correctly.

What i have always said , they didnt work side by side but gundy further foward would work
The reason Rodri is playing better is that Cancelo is sitting alongside him a lot of the time so he doesn’t get caught out advancing up the field. Also, the centre backs are passing between the lines more so there’s less emphasis on everything coming from the back through Rodri, something Liverpool worked out when we played them and shut him out early on.

There’s a fine line. Paella is a good example. Whilst the correct pronunciation is pie-ay-ah it makes an Englishman sound a wanker if he uses it. We don’t call Paris Paree either. It’s hard to articulate but most people instinctively know where the line is and this guy crossed it. Diash became Dee-as when he joined us.

I bet when the guy is in Spain he doesn’t refer to us as Manchestoh Ci-eh. That would make him consistent at least.

I don't personally think he crossed a line. As long as the name's are pronounced correctly and he's consistent with every player doing that then I can just write it off as a commentator that doesn't like and/or agree with anglicising pronunciations of names.

It's only pretentious when you put on a fake accent (which he didn't) or say it incorrectly (which he didn't). I pointed out in the match thread Danny Murphy pronounces Cancelo as Canchelo and then just my luck he's on MOTD last night and he does it again. That's where my line is crossed.

Cant disagree with any of this... good post

I thought the commentator went way over the line, he sounded like the Alan Partridge of commentators. Sounded like he was taking the piss.

what a load of shit ??

Walton said: “It would’ve been checked by the VAR, Stuart Attwell, and he’s got a decision to make and he’s thought possibly the contact was made was incidental in tackling the ball, he might’ve felt it wasn’t a foul, or he felt it was a foul but not clear and obviously wrong, so therefore didn’t draw attention to Martin Atkinson, the referee. "It’s a subjective move, but clearly there was contact made.

? SO WHY HAS HE GOT A DECISTION TO MAKE. its clearly a foul in the box in resulting in a pen ?
could even be deem a sending off if utd was

so please mr walton can you tall me why diving without any contact is deem a pen and a red card for the defender

stockley park are you watching
