I agree on Easter mate. We can be in a far better place by then if people comply with the rules. Over 60s will have had the (first) jab and hopefully better weather will have contributed to cutting the number of cases and the number of people being hospitalised to manageable levels.
Over 60s and those under with any underlying conditions are due their first jag end on this month early March, by Easter we should be well into all over 50s with most over 70s having had their second. I would expect with those under 50 with other conditions already being done, the numbers requiring hospital should be very small by April/ mid April.

Andrew marr's proper pissing me off this morning. Has guest on, "what about his new veriant then, will spread like wild fire, doom and gloom"
guest "ye, no virologist I know is that worried, the vaccine will work"
next guest on, Marr "blah, blah, doom and gloom"
Guest " ye, as my colleague just said, we're not worried"
next guest, marr"what about this new variant..."
Guest" ye as you've previously been told, no need to worry"
Fuck me talk about pushing a negative slant to try and get a story. Wanker.
Same deliberate headline on the bbc website about the new variant being limited in its effectiveness against the new variant. No attempt at balance. They deliberately stress the negative and make it the headline and put the positives way down in the article.

Its truly pathetic, just imagine if the bbc had the same attitude during world war 2 when we as a country were fighting a very different but similarly important battle. They literally have no idea of the damage they are doing to millions of people just wanting some hope during this pandemic.

Wouldn't it be nice.

Good stuff. We need to count in 3 weeks for good protection form when people get their jabs too. Also, many hospitals have cancelled leave so their needs to be a buffer between reducing Covid cases and hospital stays, getting the range of hospital services up and running and enabling some staff R&R before we can ease up restrictions too much.

Obviousky the use of hand sanitisers, face masks work in supermarkets and restrictions on crowd events will be with us for several months but I can see us being in a much better place by Easter.

Exactly, they keep banging on about the importance of people's mental health, then bombard them with negative story after negative story. They're acting like a fucking red top paper. This from the national news channel. Fucking disgrace.

They are now no better than the Sun or the Daily Star. Sensationalist headlines, constant stories about Katie Price, Wags, and "funny" social media bullshit. They are a fucking joke. Why anybody pays a license fee is fucking beyond me. Haven't funded these fuckers for 10 years and counting. Absolute shite.

They're probably being told to report that angle by the UK government.

I'd try a different website but the issue is that putting together a good news website is clearly very difficult. The only free one that comes close from what I've seen is the The Guardian website but that isn't exactly balanced either.

I'd love to have an alternative to the BBC website but there's nothing really decent out there?

It's important to know the facts and not just those which comfort you. It also informs how we behave and what we do with the lockdowns.

People like Professor Gilbert are doing such a fantastic job. Simply amazing.
suggest you listen to her advice then. She's an expert on viruses and immunology and she made it very clear this morning that we need to keep a very close eye on the SA variant.

Ive no problem with the facts, its the deliberate negative spin on every covid article I think is damaging. Its just like they do with City.

Perhaps you should read what I post rather than put your own spin on things?? Where did I ever say I wont and have not followed the guidance? infact we as a family follow it much much better than most we know.

They are reporting what astra zenica said , yesterday they were accused of not reportingcase and deaths fairly , i proved they did, read past the headline

I think it’s you not reading his post properly tbh mate.

He did read past the headline, he’s quite correctly pointing out that the headlines are always the negative slant, which for some people is enough to not bother reading the full article.

New Zealand’s economy is growing back above pre pandemic levels. The Countries that took tougher decisions tend to have recovering economies.
True but New Zealand is not an international travel hub, nor does it have 700+ forreign truck drivers entering the country every day. The virus would gave got in and population density + Vitamin D deficiency mean we're in the shit.
Closeng the borders wouldn't have helped much due to truckers and only a quarantine app linked to monitoring the location of an individual would have helped. No British political party was prepared to restrict the human rights of individuals to prevent the spread. Labour has only been keen on closing borders for a month.

It’s all part of the same public messaging approach that won’t be just down to the BBC. At the minute, there’s still not enough fully known that they need to keep with the potential negatives to ensure adherence to the lockdown, regardless of if people had had the vaccine or not.
