Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Fantastic result and a very good performance. Proper mixed emotions from being frustrated and angry at half time to elation at full time.

Sterling proved me wrong today by being decisive in the attacking third and I am delighted for the lad and hope it takes this confidence into further matches this mth against the leagues top sides.

Foden goes from strength to strength and again shows the value of having an academy/City fan in the side as he was no doubt desperate to win today as we were as fans.

Back four were excellent and the midfield, although a bit passive first half, managed to control the game throughout.

Such a weird game, first half we were too passive, too weary of going a goal down and letting it slip which is understandable given the position we were in but you sensed there was a chance to bury them today and it looked as though we migjt be letting that slip. Second half Pep recognised this got them playing more expansive football we took a deserved lead and for 5-10 minutes looked like we could run away with it before settling back into conservative mode and inviting them on, a rare Dias fuck up could have seen us collapse as we've done many times there but we're made of sterner stuff now we looked the better side even before the Allisson calamity show, that just gave us the break we've often lacked in these games, after that it was a clinic, so much better when we had a striker in the pitch and foden could get involved more from the flanks, looked as though they wanted to really rub it in with more goals too but pragmatism ruled, see the game out, and think about the next one.

I don't believe we can say Liverpool are out of it completely just yet, this season is strange it's not beyond possibility we could have a bad dip too but we can no stop worrying about them as out greatest rivals, Leicester and United are of more concern now but if we win our next few games I think we can open up enough of a gap to canter to the title. Massive result.
