Jack Grealish

My question is where does Grealish fit in all this?

He's not a DM, which is another position we need if Dinho leaves and the club is still not sold on Rodri,

Gundogan has had a spectacular year, Foden is evolving into a world-class player before our eyes.

KDB is still one of the best players in the world,

Bernardo can play the role as well, and if it is seemingly true Messi is coming he will get pushed central.

Makes me wonder if there are a couple out the door this summer that will surprise us

Personally think if we sign grealish he would play predominantly lw (imo his best performances for villa have been from this position) with foden moving to rw. We know how much pep loves inverted wingers

Where would that leave everyone else though
If our squad had ...
- 3 Keepers
- 8 CBs/FBs
- 2 DMs
- 2 Strikers
..thats 15 "specialists" with the rest as "passing/dribbling/ battling attackers" to play 4 positions (2 wide forwards 2 creative midfielders)

They could be ...
Messi, Grealish, KDB, Gundogan, Bernardo, Foden, Torres, Sterling.

Am I missing someone?

I don't believe this one, unless Messi stays at Barca or moves elsewhere. We aren't signing Haaland, Messi and Grealish in the summer. One or maybe two, but all three behave.

Sergio and Mahrez

I'm desperately hoping that Mahrez goes (Making way for Grealish and/or Messi).

The 2 strikers I'm presuming are either...
Aguero + Jesus
Haaland + Jesus or
Haaland + Aguero.
To be honest I don’t think we need grealish. Would be nice to have him but imo not a priority

As long as Mahrez is replaced with better I agree. And Messi could be a smidgen of an improvement :-)

But I like (cherry on top) the idea of Grealish too because he could perhaps be similar to Bernardo/KDB/Foden in that he could battle in the middle or play wide forward.

st: Jesus, Torres , aguero (or new one if aguero leaves)

Lw options : grealish, Sterling torres
rw options : foden, mahrez torres

cm:Bernardo, kdb, gundogan grealish/foden can also play there obviously
dm rodri/ fern (or new one)

lots of good options and with the amount of competitions we enter each year plenty of games for everyone. If we where to sign messi I would expect mahrez to be sacrificed.

No, 2 for each position is fine, 3s a crowd, especially when all 3 are international. Not to mention our best academy prospects all play in the same positions. I expect Mahrez to go and either Messi or Grealish could replace him not both and neither unless somebody makes way.

Would love to see Grealish in our side - he's a massive talent. A bit of a fucking **** (from the viewpoint of an opponent) and has an edge to him; but not overly so - his combative nature adds to his game, IMO.

Would love that but still feel we would need a holding midfielder if Fernandinho leaves which is looking likely. I know gundo can play there but if Rodri got a long term injury we would be a bit light and not sure if Doyle is up to it yet. Would rather a holder than Grealish personally
Joe Hodge is off to hone his talents at Derry City as we speak, he'll be ready for next season ;)
