Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

Is he worse than Lamela though. Do Spurs only sign c*nts? (other than Kyle, but he was a c*nt when he played for them). Must be special training sessions.
I think spurs must have the opposite recruitment criteria to us, we try and recruit people with good character, spurs must always be on the lookout for cunts

I'm going to stick my neck out but I think this team, is the best footballing version of ourselves I have ever seen. I have never seen us control games as effectively. We have some amazing players but that should not hide the fact that Pep has built something greater than the sum of its parts.

Unbelievable that team doesnt include Walker, Fern, Kev and Kun.

Hughes never had the defense organised and we were very up and down but when Robinho, SW-P, Ireland and latterly Bellamy and Tevez were on their games we were entertaining.
The true dark days were in the second and third division. We have pretty much had a great run since that Gillingham Play-off Final in 1999 (apart from one brief relegation). Keegan's side was wildly entertaining. I agree about Hughes. He was a total fool.

Great post.

How much of our new found defensive ability is down to that new assistant Pep brought in do we think?

Let's have it right Pep was never that arsed about the defensive element and famously once even admitted in interview we never practiced tackling or winning second balls.

The new guy might have played a huge part in all this but isn't getting any recognition blues.
I love the fact that apparently Pep came to see him after a game and said “I love your style of football, can we be friends?”, typical Pep, say it as it is. I know very little of Lillo’s history but it seems he likes to focus on getting things right from the back, and playing football from the back. I think he and Dias have probably both played a huge part.

Edit, in just reading up on Lillo I read that Stuart Pearce was close to signing Pep for us at the end of his career but at the last minute he went to play for Lillo for the last year of his career. It was in the muen so probably untrue but just imagine Pep trying to understand Pearce’s “tactics” - what was it you said about the pony boss?

And in the relatively recent past we lost club legends in Zab, Yaya, Vinnie and Dave. A new side has evolved in front of our eyes.

It has all been said in terms of how brilliant that was and who the unexpected heroes were.

I would have liked to have ween sergio on for even up to 10 minutes. Start getting match fitness, and ar 3-0 up maybe even a few fanciful shots to build up confidence.

That is in no way a complaint, just a bit of wishful thinking.

PL refs do not appear to use the "persistent foul play rule". I think Lamela committed at least 5.
They only don’t use it against us. It’s the usual “City are so good it’s not fair on the opposition so I’ll let them get away with loads of hacks to level it out a bit”. Wankers.

Yesterday, we faced the last team to beat us. That was 12 weeks ago, since when we've played 23 games in all competitions. We've drawn three and won the rest, scoring 55 goals and conceding six. Moreover, we've started to look in our play as imperious as those results suggest.

The great thing for me is that a couple of years ago, we were wondering how we'd possibly replace Vinny, Merlin, Sergio and Fern without a significant drop in our quality. Well, two of them have left already, the third has barely played in the current run, while the last has started only seven games in the same period.

We're seeing a new great City side evolve before our eyes. Sign the right two or three players in the summer and we'll have a group capable of achieving a level of performance that the rest of the PL will find hard to live with in the coming seasons.
