The more you speak, the harder it is to believe. There is no way a serious club will come out and say “we didn’t hire a striker because we will play with a false nine”. This is not only laughable but also ultimately unbelievably ignorant about the language of football and Pep’s tactical vision
pep would rather play 11 midfielders imo , as for laughable, you sound a bit desperate , as for peps language of football, i suggest you watch some tactical videos on how we are playing and how we move. imo he will look no further than ferran torres

ive only just seen @Rascal post, but i reckon his sources are right and here's why.

think people are going to be disappointed , but in the long run happy , i think sergios replacement is already at the club .

Watch the tactics, watch the movement, watch the ability of these players we have and how we use them, pep demands each player first works his bollox off,has excellent ball control and passing, stays in the positions until its time to move, all our players bar a couple are what you call intelligent footballers, disciplined players, they know where and when to move, why they need to do it at the right time and why they shouldn't at another time , we aren't looking for the typical forward, we are looking for a forward that is happy on the left ,right and middle and also dropping deep, if haaland can do that then yes he's the man, i haven't seen enough of him,
the man i say is already at the club is torres, i said at the start of the season i saw something in him, his finishing is calm, he has a bit to go yet but imo he will replace sergio eventually, our team isn't about having a 20 goal a season forward, its about control movement and possession , people have noticed that players are better the season after they join us, weve seen it with a few players ,torres, has been brought in to learn the system in the first year in preparation for next season, maybe we will keep sergio on for another season, maybe we will still go for messi, who imo would absolutely destroy the prem in our system, but for me torres is the man the are looking at.
I promise you, we are NOT replacing the deadliest goalscorer in Premier League history with a winger who's scored 2 league goals for us. I rate him, he's got great potential, but this is not happening.

I don’t need to watch tactical videos of how we play because I can read the game as I see it and I know of Pep’s ideas and his influences from his first year at Barcelona A. There are a lot of people around here that think the way we play is ideal, when it’s working as improvisational, and you have to look no further than Pep’s interviews to know that. Some of the comments around here are very reactionary, if not simply arrogant. “Maybe we don’t need a left back”, “maybe we don’t need a striker”, “KdB won’t have a secured spot when he’s fit again” etc. Yes we are winning at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we have cracked the formula forever. I also think it would be extremely cruel to deny Pep next summer a proper top striker, a proper top LB and add depth to the squad, allow him to make a transition to this team while we’re doing well, instead of waiting to notice these things when we’re deep in a hole. I think he signed a new contract because it was agreed that next summer he would get a chance to sign new players and change it up. His work is deeply intellectual, so having new players will allow him even more fresh ideas. Torres will have a spot in the plans for next season, but anyone thinking he’s ready to be a protagonist already needs a reality check. I wonder if what it will take for the people who think not signing a new striker would be fine is another Lyon type of disaster. I also wonder if our rivals making comments about us spending money is what’s driving some of these “let’s settle for less” reactions

Makes you wonder if people think, if offered the chance to work with Lewandowski again at City, Pep would really just turn it down. He deserves a fit Aguero/Lewandowski type of striker

i dont think we are settling for less, i think this is the way pep wants to play, he dreams of 11 midfielders in his team he actually said that, this way he gets his vision, as for the way he used to play as barca a , that was 10 years ago and as you say he moves all the time, so why would he go back ten years to the way he used to play, this is new fluid, as i said thats my opinion, im no tactical expert , but think we are seeing the beginnings of peps total football vision.

i don't know, just my opinion , I'm certainly not going to promise anything, just my thoughts displayed for all to see.

i trust pep 100% i could be way off the mark, im no expert, as i said something that has been ticking over for a couple of weeks.

I meant to say I follow his ideas ever since he took over Barcelona A, I didn’t mean to say he’s stuck there or trying to go back there. I have read both of Marti Perarnau’s books about him twice, and one of them is literally called Pep Guardiola: The Evolution.

im really getting into the tactical side of it, and will read these books, which in your opinion is the most insightful.

"ultimately unbelievably ignorant about the language of football"

Yep, that proves you know no more than any of us. Me may or we may not, but if you don't think it's at least plausible we sign Messi, and use Aguero / Jesus and groom others as a false 9 then you aren't thinking it through.
We might well sign Haaland or a centre forward who knows but there are other optons we might also be considering just as easily.

The false 9 option is not an either/or scenario with regards to a new striker. We certainly will continue to use false 9 every now and then, but it can’t be an excuse not to hire a striker. That was my point. And people who think Pep would rather play false 9 than a striker are just flat out wrong. He literally commented on that yesterday

Best team at Barca, 3 forwards (Villa, Messi, Pedro, sometimes with a false 9 but not always), best team at Bayern arguably 4 (the ever present Lewandowski, Robben, Ribery and Muller, false 9 so rare as to be non existent). Wanting 11 players comfortable enough on the ball to play midfield and wanting 11 midfielders aren't the same thing.

In which case he may well not want a centre forward who expects to be playing every week and the focal point of the attack, so it's more than plausible Haaland isn't the centre forward we want.
Its also possible if we had Messi he is happy enough to rotate Aguero and Jesus in and out. Or buy an alternative centre forward that won't complain if left on the bench in the weeks we are playing a false 9. These are all options that mean Haaland isn't the only option we are considering. Nothing is certain.

I have not once said it was the club who said that, for a profession like yours I would have thought proof reading was an essential.

I am not asking you to believe it, I am simply posting what I was told.

I have heard from a pretty good source that we will not be signing Haaland. In fact the source said there are no plans at all to sign a new forward.

So I wouldn't get your hopes up, i rarely ever post what my source says, but he has never once been wrong.

Don't ask who it is either, i will not say, i trust the man and he is a good fella whose company I enjoy,

LOL It's the most ridiculous and funny thing I've heard this year.
