The fact they’ve paid him millions irrespective of how good he is surely warrants that he shows the club and indeed fans some respect in the sense of still trying his best? Personal pride surely would make you give your all in a final season at a club you’ve spent your whole life at? Maybe he is giving his all tbf and maybe he’s just not the same player.

I wasn't keen on the idea but the way we play now seems perfectly set up for him. With the defensive solidity and control we have over games the only thing missing is that false nine who can receive it from anywhere, link play and come up with the odd bit of magic himself. We're now very comfortable getting men behind the ball for extended periods and working possession out of any situation, when we can slow the game to walking pace even at Anfield he wouldn't need to run around much.

Don't know if he'd really help us in champions league, he hasn't with Barca last few years and we'd be even more hated/get dodgy decisions in later stages but who cares as long as he keeps us the best team in the league. Makes more sense than an ungainly target man

Done fuck all other than the penalty.
Did you watch the match?
Anybody who still thinks signing Messi would be anything other than a vastly, cripplingly, expensive club-destroying mistake should be watching btsport 3 tonight.

Absolutely dreadful, lazy, big headed performance.
If he paid us to play for us I'd still be tempted to say "no thanks, you're 6 years too late "
did you watch the match?
ah yes, i remember you - you are a brainless psycho PR7 fan.
Barcelona get beat it's always Messi's fault lol
As if Messi was a goalkeeper or a defender. people always blaming my boy, football is a game with 11 players not 1...
It is disgraceful how little he works on the pitch, that's for sure.
Literally scored a goal and could have had 3 assists if Dembooty and Griezmann finished their 1 on 1 chances...
And maybe a cheeky 100m bid to juve for Ronaldo.
Your boy would be so bad in Prem right now. He knows he can only score in farmers’ league.

If he wants any serious football in the last 2 years of his career he has to leave.
Why last 2 years of his career? Interesting take lol

but he’d be coming to assist Raz, Foden, KDB etc and not the other way around.
That is the most strange comment I have read today. Wtf? Why not the other way around? In case you didn’t know: he is the best finisher in the world...
After watching that. No thank you. Not even on a free. He was walking and standing still for much of the game.
the gnome
It is so sad that so many of y’all are brainless. Disrespecting the greatest of all time. Quite funny.
And these are just a few quotes...
if he comes to City you better hide - he will tear your league apart.

To be fair to the sceptical people, signing a 34 year old is alien to us now (unless it’s the clone putter-outer 3rd choice keeper).

Messi has been the best player in the world for a decade or more. No one is disputing that.

Some fans are questioning what level of Messi we would get. It’s obviously not peak Messi, but it’s impossible to judge his level this season as he’s in a poor side that he didn’t want to be in.

I think that putting Messi in our side would motivate him as he has a good chance of winning. I also think that we could manage his game time better and give him the rest he needs to maximise what he has got left to give for the longest period possible.

I don’t blame those sceptical fans for being sceptical as it is a bit of an unknown risk to take and it’s expensive potentially.

However, this is Messi. If we can get him, I would in a heartbeat.

It is hard for criminals to get work permits here, never mind a poor man's Ortega.

Just be a expressive more commercial version of mahrez if he comes here.

lazy, greedy , scores vs the shite teams and goes missing in the big matches.

this ship has sailed , should be focusing on a forward to replace KUN in the mould of lulakau or Ings

I'd honestly rather roll with Gabriel Jesus and quarter of a season of Aguero than any of Lukaku or Ings. They'd be expensive, not particularly young, and I doubt they will buy-in into Pep's philosophy especially Lukaku.

On the other hand, if there's one person that knows how to use Messi to the fullest, and has Messi's respect, it would be Pep.

It does seem a strange thought process.

However, anyone calling someone else a moron because they don't agree with their opinion is a moron.

How about the person who called someone else a moron for calling someone else a moron for disagreeing with their opinion?

But I agree. Get Messi to City, worry about the problems later. It would be a huge boost to the club's stature at the very least.

I think he will highly motivated if he comes...If not for motivation he would have stayed there. However, I dont know whether he will be a team player like we expect to be. Like will he accept starting in the bench if Pep wants? Plus the wages may be too high for his current skills. I am probably wrong but these are my concerns

I don't want Messi here. He is old, wouldn't press and the team will change to suit and flow through him.

And when he gets injured ( which he will at 33 and in a more physical league. We'd have regressed.

I'd rather Haaland or Mbappe. Hope he stays at Barca
