Erling Haaland

Chelsea aren't on our level. Maybe financially, but look at their performances over the years; they're not a stable project. City, similar to Madrid and Barca, are virtually guaranteed UCL football every season. We don't have to worry about Chelsea, they're miles behind us in terms of a sustainable elite footballing project and there's no great affinity between the player and club. Haaland will probably move to Madrid or City.
Chelsea are a serious threat to us signing him in every capacity.

Financially, coach and record for wining titles.

If we really want Haaland it is going to be very, very expensive.

Jorginho. Sarri was a factor. Tuchel is a respected coach

Jorginho isn't Haaland. Sarri was the coach that helped him rise to prominence and it suited Napoli; it was an entirely different situation and a unique one altogether. Haaland is a superstar and, while Tuchel is a respected coach, Haaland and he have no known relationship.

Look at their title wins. They've won the title 3 times in the last decade and every successive season they've failed to finish in the top 4. Haaland is a player that will have to play in the UCL every single season without fail; he's chasing every UCL record he can and quite clearly loves that competition. That immediately puts Chelsea at a disadvantage. Then you look at everything else; Chelsea have scored 44 goals to our 64 which indicates a different level of attacking prowess, we have a manager that is regarded in higher esteem, Haaland and his family have an affinity with the club and we're the only club in England capable of challenging for every trophy which Chelsea do not have a capability of doing.

Chelsea are a strong side but they're just not City. This is between Madrid and City.

Yes but it would be even more expensive losing him to them

All I can say is if my dad had played for City, brought me up in that environment, led to me being a top class player and I was being pursued by my dads old club who are now in the top 3 in Europe, thered be only one thing for me to say .............

Will I get game time if also signing Danny ings ;)

Totally agree, he is the player we must sign in my opinion, but some on here are dismissing Chelsea as no hopers in terms of this signing, I am saying don't underestimate them either in terms of finance or the player going there.

No one is under any illusion in that dept.....but you get what you pay for.

Even removing the blue tints, other than the allure of 'the big smoke' i genuinely don't see how Chelsea would be a more attractive proposition.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

don't forget his agent, he will be a major factor in this transfer.

Chelsea can't compete with us financially, they've lower revenue and they spent a shitload last summer whereas we've held back since Guardiola's second summer. Guardiola is streets ahead of Tuchel reputation wise as a coach and we'll have won more titles by the end of the season in 5 years under him than Chelsea have won since 2010/11.

Don't forget his dad, who'll be telling Raiola where to sit and when to talk in this transfer.
Obviously, but some people are motivated by cold hard cash, both you and me don't know what Alfie wants for his son, if recent rumours are true, Little Alf wants Madrid.

I would not agree about the finances, Chelsea find the cash when required and if they want Haaland they will pull out all stops.

Also Chelsea have players that would be very interesting to Dortmund (Werner etc)

If it's a simple question of playing for the best coach and competing for titles, there is only one winner and that's us, but it's not that simple, money talks.

Chelsea have to deal with FFPR the same as us. They spent very big last summer after an enforced summer of no spending. Much like Liverpool after summer 2018, they're now going to have to keep their powder dry for a couple of years while they pay off that summer. In fact more so than Liverpool as they've about €450m p/a in income (pre-pandemic) whereas Liverpool and ourselves have around €550m. It's not a matter of wishful thinking on Chelsea's behalf, it's a matter of whether they have it in their accounts or not.

If Marca and the other Madrid rags told the truth about players having their hearts set on Real Madrid, then Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Henry, Coutinho, Suarez, Neymar, Alves and Dembele would have gone there instead of Barca and that's just off the top of my head.
