It didn't make sense that City wouldn't be in for Messi in the first place.

I find it hard to believe that City wouldn't be in for Messi. He's still a top player and would make a difference to any club. Plus, Pep would be all over trying to sign Messi on a free. Yeah, his wages and the signing-on fee will be high, but City will get that back from his marketing alone.

I feel the club is leaking all this stuff on purpose to aid off potential clubs after him. I honestly believe Messi hasn't made his mind up yet. Messi might feel he's too old to play through a rebuild, especially if they can't get any top players in the summer. Also, I don't see how Barcelona can even afford him in the summer. He'll probably demand a 50m signing-on fee, 900k a week in wages (Griezmann is on 800k a week), and they also have to pay him his 33m loyalty fee. He may waive some of that, but that won't benefit his father if he does that. They may agree to part ways and give Messi a proper farewell in the summer.

If there was a meeting then we must have news. My bet is that Leo hasn’t made up his mind yet and we are continuing to source alternative versatile attacking mids..

fuck knows what they did behind closed door if there was “good sensations”
I was trying to say that everytime Laporta briefs a journalist about how “it’s not about money, it’s about a sporting project, and we will have a great project”, that’s his way of embarrassing him in public. Who knows if there was really even a meeting...

And that for me that smells like dogshit

Another Barca PR spin

"Messi is in no hurry to make a decision, and is currently focused on winning two titles. [sport]

Ffs I was about to unwatch the thread after the initial story came out this morning, now I'm back in.

A thought the fat lady was about to sing but we go once more unto the breech, dear friends.

Barça's new management is in a worse economic situation than expected
The internal audit reveals losses close to 350 million euros for this year and no profits are expected until 2022-23

Everyone agrees that Barça's new management has a lot of work to do, but the first thing is to know exactly what economic situation the club is in. The first conclusions drawn from the internal audit commissioned by Joan Laporta and his team reflect more losses than expected, according to information from the program "Eleven".

Ferran Reverter, Barça's new general manager, has been in charge of presenting the economic situation and the solutions to the board in the coming months. According to this information, the losses for this season could reach 350 million euros, and the shock plan proposed by Reverter would allow the next season to close even with losses but much smaller. It would be in the next fiscal year, 2022-23, when profits could begin to be generated. This prediction would have been made taking into account the permanence of Messi in the team and the signing of a front-line crack.

Although the figures may indicate otherwise, Reverter has conveyed to Laporta and the rest of the executives an optimistic message in the sense that there are ways to solve the economic impasse without mortgaging the team's competitive future.
