Picture the conversation, "Hey Sergio, we're yarding you, we're not signing a striker to replace you and we've decided to tell you now, just for the fun of it."

or they got the nod from Haaland, then his agent thought having a tour of European debt ridden clubs was a good idea and then we get Pep saying what he said yesterday...

Or “we’ve not needed you all season, new system is not suited to you and we feel to continue with you on the outside after your great career with us would be wrong”.

We've been sending messages all week.

To Sergio, to Mino, to Dortmund and others.

Most importantly, to our own squad.

The first art of negotiation is the other party being told you are willing to walk away.
You been reading the art of the deal recently? My take is that our real target audience is the tiny number of clubs that could afford £150 million in the current climate. The message is we’re not paying that fee are you? Simple fact of supply and demand, the price is set by the seller but no matter how prized your asset it’s practically worthless if no one is prepared to pay the price.

Isn't everyone!! He's the guy in the know ;)
The best situation would be for our existing strikers to suddenly hit goal scoring form.

This would make the fake 9 just an option or midfield scoring heroes happy as well so they can concentrate on defense and generating goal chances.

Let them show Pep they are fit to follow Sergio not redundant as strikers.

I'd say there'll certainly be at least one club willing to throw caution to the wind and pay out the nose if it meant sealing the deal

Pep told us everything we need to know yesterday. We are 100% in the market for a top striker, and we’ve been quoted a price by the selling club. We’ve informed the selling club and everyone else who’s potentially interested in the player that we’re not willing to pay the asking price. This was Pep as the representative of the football side of the business confirming that he supports the financial side of the business 100%. This sends a message to the selling club that we’re not going to be bullied into paying over the odds for the player. I fucking love our club and the way we do our business.

I use the word lightly but the glaring 'issue' with that is that if Haaland doesn't explicitly state "I only want to join City" then threatening to walk away means very little as the like of Chelsea, for example, won't be afraid to chuck money at them.
This...calling someone's bluff is dangerous when other clubs have shown a willingness to throw whatever money is needed at someone on order to get a player.....in particular the likes of Madrid, Chelsea and the rags....

There would be reasons for the confidence in Erling Haaland transfer at City as we very confidently let Aguero go. But until a player does a Sane and flat out refuse to sign an extension or transfer to any other club( Good for those Bavarian cunts) there would always be a doubt over the certainty of a transfer. Even KDB was a bit iffy till the last minute but we eventually made it over the line.

This is bigger, better and with a showman like Raiola things are bound to get dirty. I think we wouldn't know anything for sure till July/Aug. Till then every other news is going to create panic. I hope for the sake of all of us, Mendes becomes our player real soon.

I still can't get over the B.Silva transfer. So fast and efficient. Those just don't happen anymore!

Think Monaco got a bit enthralled by the Mbappe transfer and didn't take stock of just how much Bernardo had progressed, so they set a valuation that was too low and we met it straight off rather than negotiating. As for personal terms he wanted to play for Guardiola and with Merlin.

just watched the pep pre-match interview and all the talk of not city and pep signing a striker in the summer

1st thing is why would pep say we are going to sign a striker when we are in all the competitions and upsetting sterling or jesus and others play that role in the squad the last thing you want is players downing tools

2nd why would pep say we want this player or that player when they are still under contract its not pep's way
plus it opens a bidding war and never show your hand to early

but pep face says a thousand words you can see its a controlled answer and then looks away
you can take it as gold. but its with that look you see with pep when its a controlled reply you know something is ticking away in his head. we are short in numbers up front and you are fool if you can not see it. plus now aguero come out and said ok am off in the summer ? you think the world best manager thinks city can get by with just adding delap then april fool to you

if one of the best strikers in the world is up for sale you think city and pep will not be in the que ? why let him go to a rival when you need him yourself. also haaland is a city fan and it would be his dream move

i would hate to play pep at cards because i bet he is a master at cards as well. he knows what he is doing he's sitting on a pair of ace's but wants you thinking its a pair of 2's and bluffing

pep interview 10.30pm embargo

pretty was what i was saying

If we don't beat dortmund this week it will be a wasted opportunity Haaland is the only scary thing about them. Speaking about Haaland he's been quiet and frustrated today. They are missing Sancho massively no one there to create for Haaland

just chill there’s a reason why kun was let go .city now have the buying power and upper hand .
Frankie says don’t do it . just relax
