Obviously we want a striker and haaland will currently still be the guy but it does seem that due to losses a lot of clubs are valuing their players even higher than usual to try and fill the shortfall?

I’m a watch geek and by the price alone they are wrong.

Lots of managers rocking Richard Mille which are substantially higher than that.

Rodgers is rocking a Patek Nautilus and I’d love a decent look at it as I reckon it’s limited and probably goes for 80k

Which is why there is no need to pay stupid money.

When push comes to shove, clubs will accept less. This has been devastating season for many financially.

There is also much less hyped but very talented striker in Alexander Isak at Real Sociedad. He would cost about £60m.

Could be that kind of signing too.

Explaining clearly we don't have infinite money to throw around as we've been seriously impacted like everyone else by the pandemic
Not going to be paying pre covid cash for anyone; Grealish or Haaland...
Not going to be breaking our wage structure
We still have love for Messi
We can compete next season without a new elite striker
Our academy has some excellent prospects that will be integrated further into the first team squad next season

What a club

Exactly, the best hand in a negotiation is having no problem in walking away. If Dortmund don't budge (as they are an arrogant club and think they're bigger than what they actually are (Bayern's bitch)), we have no problem in going a season without a striker. I suspect Ferran will be moulded in that role next season if this becomes a reality with more first team football for Delap too.

This also sends a really positive message to Haaland too. "We only want you and we are ready to wait for your release clause next summer if Dortmund aren't willing to budge on your price." I feel this is also why the reports on "City alternate targets" from reliable City sources have completely died.
