Feeling confident.
Ultimately no matter what system Pep goes with its the players that count. Despite what Pep played against Lyon last year the fact that Laporte, Sterling and Eddy shit the bed cost us the tie. That won't happen again!
Laporte and Sterling won't start I suspect but we'll see.
I think we'll boss them second half after a tight 45 minutes and it'll be 2 - 0.

Ederson
Walker
Stones
Dias
Cancelo
KDB
Rodri
Gundogan
Bernardo
Jesus
Foden

High pressure forward line, plenty of shots in the attacking 5, and Rodri, Cancelo, Gundo and KDB can all find the forward pass for the 3 silky speedsters to get in behind.

Mahrez
Aguero
Sterling
Torres

on the bench, with

Ferna
Laporte
Mendy
Zinchenko

isn’t a bad squad!!!

it’s now it never boys. Let the games begin!!

We'll have most of the possession and when we lose the ball it will be mostly in their half. The best way to disrupt their counter will be to press high and tenaciously. If they don't get going, Haaland doesn't get the service, and no team does this as well as us at the moment, in fact it has been one of our best strategies for conceding very few goals.
No one wants an "overthought" line-up, and we won't need to in this regard. A tried and well familiar side.
I wouldn't mind Foden for Sterling, but I agree with earlier posts that suggest Pep's not as likely to start Phil here as most are thinking.
eddy
walker stones dias cancelo
rodri
kevin gundogan
bernie jesus sterling
That’s a good post. My only concern is Sterling fucking up in front of goal so often. For that reason plus as you say with our best strategy of closing Dortmund down very quickly when we lose possession, then it has to be Foden. He will terrorise their back line with his darting runs and determination.

That’s the team for me. Full of energy and determination.

After not having any City game for over two weeks, we now already have another one tomorrow and I haven't even caught up on the MotD highlights of the last one yet (out of habit watch those recorded as that's always with different commentary and analysis) ... bloody hell, I also need to do a Pre-Match write up for the next one ...
We look forward to your pre match reports. No pressure, but get on with it lad lol.

I'd go with Laporte rather than Stones just because Stones might not have got that England incident out of his head yet.

A doubt in my mind is whether we go with a central striker or whether we use Foden or KDB in that central role. I think I'd go with Jesus. He looked very sharp against Leicester.
I would think he was over that slip the second he won the game for England.

Can't wait for this game. The proper fun of the Champions League begins, hopefully we are ready for it and not bottle it at the quarters this time.

I feel this team is better placed then any of our other cracks at this stage of recent years with Dias arrival. Expecting a fired up performance from our lads.

Haaland obviously the biggest threat for them, for the two legs he's just a player in the opposition for me, not a signing we covet.

Bring on the quarter to 4 wake up for kick off for me. Pumped for it.

Well, here we are again, as we always are, year in, year out.
FFS, let's get a bit of luck to go with the undoubted talents we have, and get
through, we are well capable of beating anyone now.

Does feel a bit deja vu doesnt it. Think it tempers my excitement towards this game as i can't get previous fuck ups out of my head.

From what I've seen of this Dortmund side, they are prime candidates to be absolutely wrecked by a full on press. They have loads of mistakes at the back, the keeper isn't good on the ball and Hummels and Can are slow and sloppy.

As soon as Sevilla pushed up and put them under pressure, they really crumbled, and it was only the fact they'd waited way too long that saw them go out - and even then they could have taken it to extra time with the last kick of the tie.

I would go for the full on pressing side. Ederson, Zinchenko, Dias, Stones, either RB, Rodri, Gundo, KDB, Foden, Jesus, Bernardo.
