There’s nothing wrong with being frustrated, pissed off, and annoyed about today’s defeat.

This was one of those games the vast majority of City fans, even those criticising the flappers, who thought City would win it quite easily, even though we all knew the fixture schedule. City don’t need to give the Rags any encouragement whatsoever.

I might be alone, but I wanted City to go into the game against Dortmund with a 17 point lead in the PL, if Spurs beat United, and all but have won the title.

Do I want City going into the CL semi-finals on the 27th of April having to rest players against Palace away after that? Do I want another Leeds scenario? No I don’t!

But you have to play the here and now. No point in thinking rest players when the league is actually done or for the Semi’s as we have a tough second leg in Germany to try and actually get there. To try and win every competition we are in requires serious rotation and the league is where we are afforded that luxury.. the others are all do or die.

My sadistic side says let the Rags win their games in hand , and we stumble for a couple of games to build their hopes up and then we beat Everton on the last day in the 93rd minute , it would be a beautiful thing , but i dont think my heart would take it.

It’s all about perspective tho isn’t it

There’s rotation, and there’s wholesale rotation.

Dias didn’t have to be rested, especially with La Porte missing.

Bar the sending off, which happens, Dias and Stones wouldn’t have had a hard day. Playing Dias and Stones, with Fern in-front, would have been enough to deal with the Leeds attack, when it came, which wasn’t often.

I can fully understand resting KDB and the other midfield players who have busted a gut over the last few weeks.

Dortmund have rested 2 players.

You sir can fuck right off, I wanted it won the same day we play league cup final, it was possible but I don’t think so now.

Dortmund have rested 2 players.

Dias is the one player who should have been rested and he should have been rested earlier

He has started 15 games since Feb 13th. 56 days. Including 3 international games and all the travelling involved.

A game every 3.7 days.

You cannot just keep asking them to perform to high levels under that schedule both physically and mentally.

Dortmund have rested two players because they can’t afford to rest anymore. We can.

They are. But we had the ideal opportunity to tie up the league.

Dias would have been the difference with those 2 Leeds goals.

Yes, Dias has played almost every game. But today would have been a stroll for him.

He would still have had 4 days rest before Dortmund.

I bet he will be playing against Chelsea 4 day’s after Dortmund.

Not having a pop at Pep. I appreciate he has to rotate. But with La Porte missing, Dias should have played.

Like every City fan I hope to God with the rested players City win on Wednesday against Dortmund. And if we do, I will give Pep all the credit he deserves. But at the moment I’m still pissed off we threw 3 points away today. That’s all. :-)

Even more reason to rest Dias in my humble opinion. A knock to him and/or Stones and we’re in a spot of bother.

It’s all risk reward.. I personally think that 11 was good enough to risk it. 29 shots to 2 kind of confirms it. I actually posted it was going to be one of those games at about 50 odd minutes in the match thread. It had the feeling it was going that way. Fielding our strongest 11 definitely lowers the already low odds of having “one of those days” but doesn’t totally eliminate them.

Basically we could be facing the same situation without any key players being rested.

The risk was worth the reward in my book and we got unlucky in this particular battle but it could prove valuable in winning multiple wars. I suppose we will find that out by the end of next month.

Why would today have been a stroll for Dias? He would have been up against Bamford, the 4th top goal scorer in the league and the 6th top assister. Plus they had Raphina who is the 7th top assister.

The simple fact is the players on the pitch created enough opportunities to win that game they didn’t produce the necessary down To the players as far as I’m concerned

you’ve answered the reasoning in your own post by bringing the Chelsea game into it. 3 games.. 2 must win..
