We'll still face the same punishments as the other 6. Someone at Man City colluded with executives at 11 other clubs and subverted their own fanbase and staff to try and rip the fabric out of the structures of football as it's stood for 100's of years.

I don't care what rule they have to invent to punish them but they should all be punished, extremely and swiftly. There is absolutely no excuse.

Jesus - the melodrama from some on here is off the scale!

Which morally upstanding custodians of the game do you suggest should be punishing us exactly?

People do realise football has been governed by business interests rather than community good pretty much since the off, don’t they? And the pace of that commercialisation has only been accelerated beyond recognition since 1992 and the creation of the PL - which last ripped out the fabric of football as it had stood for 100s of years just 29 years ago.

Anyone who still believes club owners view their fans as anything other than customers to be commercially exploited is living in some sort of alternative fantasy version of reality, where clubs are some sort of cooperative or ‘business for good’, bound to consult its members and consider their opinions before making decisions.

That rose tinted version of the game died a long time ago - if it ever existed in reality.

Look at the people behind the FA, the PL and UEFA and ask yourself if any of these represents ‘the historic fabric of football’ - are these the cretins we should somehow be clamouring your protect?

UEFA, with Gill, Tebas, Rummenigge, Watzke and al-Khelaifi on their side - who existentially hate competition and are solidly driven by protecting their own interests. Who have spent the last decade trying to cripple our club to serve the interests of a handful of clubs with no interest in the integrity of the game.

Or the PL, with their United and Liverpool appointed yes-man running the show, and clubs like Leicester, Wolves, Burnley, etc who signed a letter only last season to try and get us thrown out of elite competition for good.

Fuck them all - if they had been shafted, I’d have lost absolutely zero sleep over their collective fates. Bunch of fucking self serving shysters deserve everything they get.

Do I lament the loss of football’s soul? Absolutely.

Do I think it exists anywhere amongst the entities we were considering fucking over through the ESL? Not a chance.

I hated the ESL - but not because I felt there was somehow a ‘do the right thing’ option lurking in the corrupted hearts of the PL or UEFA. It was just further evidence of the moral bankruptcy of the game.

Punishing us would be a monumental act of hypocrisy - they can get fucked with their faux outrage and entitlement, when they’d all jump at the same thing given half the chance.

Sky s reporting that one Chief Executive spent a day trying to speak to the club owner because this was as big a shock to him as it was to the rest of us.

I wonder who that was?

So you want them (whoever they are) to invent rules retrospectively to punish them (by them I presume you mean us too)? There's some weird ideas on here right now.

We will get the same punishments as the other, as in none at all, because there is nobody want or able to dish out any punishment, just some fans seem to need some self flagellation. Go ahead but leave the rest of us out thanks.

Did you feel the same when we left the Football League to join the Premier League? If not, why not?
The premier league did and still does have relegation as far as I am aware and not a closed shop

it is still a competition which the likes of Leicester City can win

it is still a competition where the likes of West Ham or Everton can qualify for the main European competition

it is still a competition where Wolves can qualify for Europe

the Super dooper league would not have been a competition and fair it would have been an American version where the select few are invited

City were not a major player who could sway the PL but could with the Shit league and it is City and City alone I give a fuck about

I get that if we’ve done wrong, broken a rule and get punished then we have to except it.
But fans actually wanting it is just weird.
Some fans yesterday “wanting/hoping” we got kicked out of the league, weird.

so 12 clubs can decide they are above everything and everyone and try destroy the structures of the game without consequence?

lads you're on cloud cuckoo land

You're as morally bankrupt as the cunts who dreamed this up if you think this should be excused without punishment

The ESL was intended though as a rival to the Champions League and to be run in parallel with the Premier League and other clubs. Many have made the point before that the Champions League is becoming a super league and that it damages the Premier League by rocket fueling those clubs who are in it, hence we get a Sky 4.

The ESL that was mooted would have given City a lot of money. I am slightly worried that we accepted entrance to it. One theory was that it was a rope-a-dope, a tactic to get Man Utd and Liverpool to show their hand, launch it, and then shoot them down, or it was straightforward greed. Both are possible.

I’d be more partial to self fellation than self flagellation...
