This from a rag on redcafe
They don’t get it do they. So desperate to be relevant. So desperate to win at all costs.

They have happily sold their club, their soul, their History, their traditions for a bit of success. Assuming they don’t mind having their club rebranded (which they don’t appear to), you could argue they have won the lottery, being one of the few clubs in world football who have benefited from billionaire ownership.

What they fail to understand is these people are killing football. The oil barons and small nations buying up football clubs and killing competition is what’s driving the “old school elite” to push for ESLs and redrawing of the rules. FFP proved powerless, individual Football Associations have been powerless. Governments have been idle - and this is the result.

Ok sticking up for his club, fine but the hypocrisy is monumental. The reason United were so successful was they floated on the stock market, raised a shed load of money, spent more money than all the top clubs in England, broke transfer record after transfer record and basically made it a closed shop. Then as they were on the stock market, and I seem to recall their fans wanting the sale, they get sold to the glazers. Now this has not worked out for them, I.e they are not winning or second and they now think it’s owners like ours who are the problem.
WITHOUT THEIR HUGE CASH INJECTION UNITED WOULD BE A MODERATELY SUCCESSFUL CLUB. The Ferguson years were the anomaly, they have reverted to type.
So to say the modern owners, especially ours, are killing football it’s ludicrous.
“They have sold their club” is what this joker actually says without a hint of hypocrisy for them being one of the first to do so.
From the fannies who took "football club" off their badge.

The sad facts are united was never in debt till 2005 when the glazers took over and put them in debt.
Owners shouldn’t be able to do this and the fact they take dividend payments out of the club is morally wrong.
I understand the united fans frustration and I believe all of us as fans should unite to stop these evil people ruining our football clubs.
Did you catch anyone?

Maiden post hey..........

Come on......39 pages to go. Bit disappointed we haven't had more pages. It was 250 pages yesterday.......bit more effort today lads please. Need to pass the Dipper thread by 6pm....

Neville thinks that a copper having his face slashed is all part of a peaceful protest. Needs sacking and banned from any football prsenter - punditry roles anywhere In the world ever again.

Slashed steward + injured cop turns it into a “predominantly peaceful protest”.

20 injured makes it a “generally peaceful protest”.

Someone killed = “intended peaceful protest hijacked by hooligans and Berties”.

I don't care what happens to the rags, I want them to fail, be removed from the top table and tumble down the divisions by any means necessary.

Support the Glazers, I hope they suck every bit of life out of them.

All the pundits on Sky said it was just a few mindless idiots. It did not look like a few from the tv pictures. You do not draft in extra numbers from an outside police force dressed in riot gear & with batons raised to quell a few mindless idiots.

After thinking about Neville’s comments yesterday about the rags and red scousers being the grandfather’s of the English game, what absolute patronising crap,no thought of any other team who were formed well before these two shithouses or who had won trophies either.
notts co 1862
notts forest 1865
sheff wed. 1867
Aston Villa 1874
W.B.A 1876
just a few teams who could be considered grandfathers of English football what an entitled cnut Neville is..
United were nothing before Matt Busby! Busby went to United in 1945, 76 years ago; but the league had been going for 57 years and the FA Cup for 74 years before that, and as you say some clubs were formed 80+ years before that. So for half of football history (plus the 1970s) United have been a non-entity of a club. How the fuck can they be considered the Grandfathers of English football?

As Newton Heath they were getting crowds of 400 at Bank Street and went bust. As Manchester United they won their first ever trophies with City’s players, then went 37 years without winning anything. They were getting average attendances of 11,000, individual attendances of 4,000, couldn’t afford to buy their own kits so used old City kits (Rags), and nearly went bust in the 1930s.

The grandfathers of English football are:
Aston Villa - 6 league titles and 6 FA Cups by 1920.
Sunderland - 6 league titles and an FA Cup by 1936.
Everton - 5 league titles and 2 FA Cups by 1939.
Newcastle - 4 league titles and 3 FA Cups by 1932.
Sheffield Wednesday - 4 league titles and 3 FA Cups by 1935.
Blackburn Rovers - 2 league titles and 6 FA Cups by 1928.
Preston North End - 2 league titles and 2 FA Cups by 1938, first ever Double Winners (1888-89) in a season they went unbeaten in the league (first ever Invincibles) and didn’t concede a goal in the FA Cup.

In the decade United were almost going bust, other clubs were huge in comparison:
Arsenal were winning 5 league titles and 2 FA cups.
Everton were winning 3 league titles and an FA Cup.
City were winning the league title, the FA Cup, playing the first ever “European” fixture (against a German league XI in Germany), were getting regular 60-70,000 attendances as well as the record breaking 84,569 attendance in 1934.
West Brom were getting 64,000+ crowds.
Birmingham were getting 66,000+ crowds.
Huddersfield (after winning 3 consecutive league titles the previous decade) were getting 67,000+ crowds.
Sheffield United were getting 68,000+ crowds.
Newcastle were getting 68,000+ crowds.
Bolton were getting 69,000+ crowds.
Sheffield Wednesday were getting 72,000+ crowds (against City) and winning trophies.
Sunderland were getting 72,000+ crowds and winning trophies.
Charlton were challenging [City] for the league title and getting 75,000+ crowds.
Chelsea were getting 82,000+ crowds.

I’ve named 16 clubs there, and not exhausted the list, who have more legitimacy of calling themselves bigger clubs than United in the first half of football history.

Man United “the Grandfathers of English football”, my arse!

I don't recall any outrage at debt-free Bumley being bought out by a Yank consortium earlier this year saddling them with debts and loans to pay off.

Better than having grinning beards in the NUFC directors boxes.

The only reason Glazer's bought utd was because pisscan wanted the stud rights for the Rock of Gibraltar. He pissed of your two Irish shareholders who flogged it to the Glazer's.

You have the Glazer's because of your ex managers greed, dont blame the Glazer's
