The other thing to consider with the marketing is that with Ronaldo and Messi coming close to retiring there is going to be a huge vacuum that needs filling. Players like Haaland and Mbappe are potentially going to fill that much more readily than someone like Kane but they need to be at teams where they can bang goals on big stages.

Getting into the Champions League final gets us close to that level so getting someone like Haaland gets us both into the conversation. Absolutely need to follow that up with multiple runs deep into the champions league though and those players need to be scoring winners. The timing is almost perfect.

Foden has shown enough in the quarters and semi that he can be a big european player going forward. He also has the fearless natural joy of football like Messi. I genuinely don't think fans in England have woken up to how special he really is yet. When I think about how Joe Cole or Jack Wiltshire where eulogised Foden is a different class all together.

If you mean the U23s game against Spurs then I think you're slightly overstating it. The U23s have put 10 (ten) goals past them in 2 games in a week with just 2 conceded.
