You do realise that even IF Utd win their games in hand it's a 7 point lead with 3 games to go. Hardly comparable.

There is so much more to football management than picking your best team every week. It is far too simplistic to say we should have killed our CL team in a bid to win a league that we are going to win anyway.
There is so much strategy, bluff, counter bluff, mind games and probing going on that most people wouldn't know where to start.
I posted in the pre match thread yesterday that this match was a free hit, so I'm not saying this after the event, and it was.
Pep had a free hand yesterday, he selected that team and played that match with the bigger picture in mind.

Pep has managed this squad superbly.

Keep the faith they wont beat us 3 times straight thats for sure. If we had beaten them twice i would be fearful about a third straight win as generally stats dont work that way.

Agree totally. Well over 50 but the thing is City have progressed so far so have the expectations of the fans, including us old timers.The one constant in it all is let’s torture the fans as long as we can thing ;)

Still fuming - largely concerning the starting eleven, the formation, the penalty, the non-penalty. Make four of five changes tops, bring in players who deserve to start - Laporte, Rodri, Cancelo, possibly two of Aguero, Sterling or Jesus with on-form players. Definitely do not take out all five attack minded players at once.

He didn't get it wrong though IMO. He got it spot on. We will almost certainly win the league and have opportunities to rest players while keeping them match sharp for the CL final.

if it was last game of the season and city still need to win you think pep picks the same team with the champions league final coming up the week later ? like i said he's had 2 games to get it done and them players would have 3 games to rest before the final

I suppose like all good stories it gets embellished every time it's told, and the moral becomes more important than the facts. By next season it will be 11 points in 3 games and the season after 14 in 2.

But in this case, it wasn't a story. It's plain ole fact..... Unless you have a different recollection?
