Is left back really a problem?

Yes simply because as well as Zinchenko has done there, if he was to lose form or get injured for a lengthy amount of time then relying on that useless bastard Mendy would come back to haunt us.

If we're playing an (effectively) entirely different team, then maybe.

I'd wager we have decent options if we're playing at least half a full strength team, and we're covered for a full strength one.

For me, it's not a problem.

In order of faith I have in this position it goes:

Zinny >> Ake > Cancelo >>> Mendy

Nuno Mendes was a target we were linked with, but I'm not entirely sure how to fit him even if Mendy leaves.

Mendes is getting loaned back for a year before getting here. Not my dream scenario (if Pep is here for only two more years, I’d want them working together for as long as possible), but if he’s seen as the one, that will have to do. Great player. Please catch a Sporting game whenever you can

I saw him with Portugal and was already convinced by him, I can tell he will be one of the best LBs in the future.

If he gets loaned back, then that makes the most sense, just don't see the space in the squad right now.

Didn't realize Mendy had two years left on his deal, assumed it was just one. We don't sign many of our new signings to six year contracts.
Thought if the Mendes rumors of loaning him back for a year are true then I wouldn't be surprised if we have to loan him for the final year but we may need to anyways for him to try to get a run of games and generate interest for the summer of 2022. I'm not sure anyone will pay more than 10m for him this summer.

Nobody is paying a fee for Mendy. Nobody. Salary, injuries and performances have seen to that.
It will even cost us millions to heavily subsidise his wages just to be able to pack him off on loan somewhere.
I have long suspected we are stuck with him until his contract runs out and he swans off to the UAE, China or one of the other retirement leagues

Zinchenko has adapted with Cancelo guesting right and left Mendy can deputise in the cup games. No point busting a flush until contracts are nearly over.

Anyone who watched Mendy vs Chelsea and thinks he’s good enough is surely on a wind up.
In an ideal world our first choice LB and in fact first choice 11 plays that game. Mendy however looked fine against Palace and is perfectly good enough for cup games etc. I would be surprised if we move him on simply because of the finances involved and in fact we will just rotate Mendy and Zinchenko as we have done this season and its not worked out bad has it....

He was bad against Chelsea in the FA Cup and again embarrassingly bad against Chelsea in a game that could have given us the title. He isn’t good enough for the team, regardless of who we play against (that shouldn’t be the standard)

If we bring in the above three,i think we can manage without the addition of of a left back, although with a specialist we have proper cover for injury/suspension etc and we would be far more capable.

We could do this... but its a risk if Zinchenko gets a long term injury... remember we gambled on Laporte staying fit and that didn't work out too well....

Anybody think it would be worth taking a cheeky punt on Bukayo Saka at Arsenal?
I had hoped Pep would read my advice here to buy Tierney, but, like VVD who I also recommended, he blanked me. If you are going to buy anyone from The Arses, make it Tierney. You will thank me later. I accept money. I have no shame.
