Most of the population in these regions had gained immunity

Even in the very hardest hit areas, I don't think there's any suggestion the attack rate ever got as high as 50%?

Has anybody had the AZ jab and not been ill after it? Seems everybody I know had the side effects

I had it last week and wasn't remotely ill. My left arm was slightly sore a day after, but only if I pressed where the injection was. I am really soft when it comes to injections/pain as well so if I didn't feel anything, you'll be fine :)

ZOE APP UPDATE

UK Symptomatic cases rise again -by 703 to 17, 381 slightly higher rise than yesterday.

These have risen for 5 straight days now for the first time since January.

And the UK predicted case numbers also up (as they have been every day now for a week) by 100 to 1524.


Here are the GM boroughs based on Zoe reported data:-

BOLTON shoots back UP to an area of concern from 27 / 94 to 298 / 1053 in one go. Maybe the mass testing there?

STOCKPORT Falls a little again from 371 / 1283 to 330 / 1143 .

Chorley is above both of them and still the worst in the NW.~

Other areas have escalated more. In South Yorkshire and the Midlands there are now several areas at rates double or treble any of those above.

As Zoe and the data I post nightly are both seemingly tracking ahead of the official data we MIGHT see better news for GM in coming days and the concern move to these other areas in Yorkshire and the Midlands.




Other GM boroughs are less dramatic but mixed. Though mostly good.


BURY 15 / 81 v 15 / 82 - static but very low

MANCHESTER 76 / 140 v 198 / 363 - good fall on the day.

OLDHAM 176 / 751 v 129 / 552 - a bit of a rise here

ROCHDALE 25 / 113 v 22 / 99 - up a little.

SALFORD 107 / 422 v 125 / 496 - a small fall today.

TAMESIDE 114 / 510 v 150 / 672 - another healthy fall.

TRAFFORD 65 / 276 v 49 / 210 - A bit of an increase here.

WIGAN 89 / 247 v 91 / 282 Small fall.



Most of GM is down today in numbers despite national increases focused elsewhere. That may be good for the NW but suggests this variant is taking root in a lot more places. And that the gradual opening up is sparking more cases which was inevitable and not in of itself a problem.

BBC News just reported on Bolton and the rise there (all be it using data from last week). None the less the testing is now seriously underway and they noted that the bulk of the cases are in the young - school age, teens and under 25. And as yet not much sign of serious illness.

No, it’s “my“ speculation, based on the % positive test results versus the Number of tests perfomed by each health board, leading up to and including the high point of the virus infections in Wales.

I won’t post it here as it involves breaking down 7 different Local Health Boards in Wales. Each given their daily/weekly/monthly test data.

What I should have said, gaining herd immunity, instead of most were immune.

Before anyone panics that 7 was in effect a Sunday number as last Monday was a bank holiday so data registration closed. It would have been more like 17 in a normal week. And the two week fall is very good. So calling it a rise would be a mistake the media will no doubt make anyway.


Regions:- East 0, London 1, Midlands 1, NE & Yorkshire 5, North West 1, South East 1, South West 2.

No trust other than Bradford (3) had more than 1 death.

The NW one was in Pennine Acute.

I know but a lot of countries not on the red list were, I mean Boris was still planning on a trip to India days before it went on the red list. Just strikes me as weird putting it on the red list after cases start falling.

HOSPITAL DATA IS OUT

70 patients - down 2 in day - was 58 last Tuesday

6 ICU ventilated beds - as yesterday - was 11 last Tuesday

Thanks, I wasn’t questioning whether you had it, I was just intrigued why you reaction to the vaccine made her think it showed you probably had it, not heard that about the reaction to first and second jabs. I didn’t have any reaction to my first, not even a sore arm, don’t what that means but don’t think I had covid either.

I should point out that this seems to applly to around 70% of those who have had both jabs. Many will be different.

4.4% positivity - was 5.2% last week

5 care home outbreaks - same as yesterday and last week

7 day rolling cases total 638 - was 639 yesterday and 632 last week

56 patients - down 1 on day - was 62 last week

3 ventilated - same as yesterday - was 5 last week

I'm not surprised 3 planes land at Manchester every day from Istanbul. There is not a Turk on any of them they are full of Indians and Pakistani's bypassing the 10 day hotel quarantine.

Not from Monday they won't - Turkey is on the red list from then.

Apologies if this has already been answered. I know we were warned that 1st vaccinations would be low throughout April, but here we are a third of the way through May and the daily number of 1st jabs is still in the 100-120K range.

Are we expecting a significant increase soon? The journalists at press conference seem to be obsessed with important details like who the PM will hug and how much he's spent on redecorating his flat.

Everybody done by the end of July looks impossible unless there's a significant increase in 1st jabs soon.

2nd jab is at 400k+ fron Tuesdays onwards. The numbers will start to balance out by the start of June.
