Said it in the match thread - if that’s Dias in front of Ziyech then he throws his whole body in the way and blocks it. None of this half-arsed turning of the back like he’s scared of it hitting him. It’s not the first time either.

He’s obviously quality in most aspects but it’s stuff like that why he isn’t first choice when the other two in front of him are doing what he is doing and more.

Marca are reporting that following the request of Luis Enrique and Rubiales (head of the Spanish FA) Laporte is going to be allowed to play for Spain and will be immediately called up.
Hasnt he played for france At senior level? Im not too sure of the regulations any more

good for him though if thats what he wants

I think Stones, Walker and Zinchenko have all really bought into Dias' full throttle, die before you concede mentality, and Laporte hasnt yet... but that doesn't mean he wont ever.

I can imagine a scenario where Laporte gets an extended run and it sparks in him too. For the others it seemed to be the League Cup derby that really bonded them.

Also I think it takes a while to get over a big injury and he'll probably be better next season.

Wow. Congrats to him but I was hoping he would have a summer off, in fact I hope every City player is not called up for the Euros so they can all get a nice holiday.

agree. Never more eveident than when zinchenko blocked neymars shot and stones and dias went mental fist and chest pumping. It was like hed scored. I Loved it.

The turning of the back by Laporte was very ordinary by him. Apart from that he had a decent game.

I don't think he's a happy bunny,he knows he isn't in our starting 11 when it matters, and, given he probably had ideas of being our main man when he signed, that has miffed him somewhat.

I will not be surprised if he takes the opportunity of a move should the right club approach us.

There is a place in the side if he really wants it. The same situation with Stones last season.

Happy for him if its what he wants. Has a spanish twang to his accent so im sure he feels some attachment there. Huge opportunity to be the base of the spanish back 4

Surely the centre backs in the French national team can't be THAT good that they can afford to ignore a world class player like Laporte.

It’s always seemed to be something personal between Deschamps and Laporte imo. No idea what though.
Oh right, that would make sense. There's no other logical explanation for leaving him out.

France arguably have the deepest collection of centre backs in the world. They have a ridiculous number of international class players in that position.

Varane, Fofana, Kounde, Upamecano, Kimpenbe, Konate etc

Fair enough but Laporte was being ignored before those four were even on the scene.
