Newcastle (A) | Post-Match Thread

I had a senior moment I thought the penalty taker couldnt score from the rebound ! That another player had to touch the ball lol.
Dont know where that thought came from lol. I know the penalty taker cant score if it comes back of the wood work but for some reason thought it was same if the keeper saved it ;)

Keeper plays you onside. It is cruel, but it is so.

Touche! Or so I thought. If you read the full description, that house is an old hotel that needs gutting to turn it into a home. The pictures are a CGI impression of what it might look like if you coughed up another wad to do it up. God knows what it looks like inside at the moment.

Anyway thanks for posting it. Never seen a virtual house before.
Only the first 5 images of the kitchen/dining room are CGI the rest are what it looks like now.

Comprehension is an important skill not just something you did at school ;)

As everyone seems to be saying this was a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining and enjoyable match but I suspect it served merely to confirm the ideas Pep already has about the CL final team rather than challenge them. I think we all suspect that Pep is sure of the team and only injury will change it. Ederson will be in goal, so it was a nice gesture to play Scott last night. He's clearly popular with the squad and he did nothing wrong. Neither of the two centre backs will figure in the CL team. I have been impressed with Ake whenever he has played, but I was singularly unimpressed last night. Garcia was absolutely fleeced for Newcastle's third and Walker ( who's own performance was uneven) had little choice but to concede the penalty. We need Walker's pace against Chelsea but whether we need Cancelo's bad temper and petulance is a different matter with the ever reliable Zinchenko available. Gundo and Bernado did no harm at all to their chances but Raheem again failed to impress. He seems to have lost his ability to intervene decisively, doesn't beat his man at all regularly and is too ready to slow the attack down and play a "safe" pass. Jesus plays well, always works hard and set up a goal last night but he tends to operate in wide areas rather than in the middle and I certainly wouldn't pick him in preference to Phil Foden! Torres certainly showed what a prospect he is but I don't think he is yet to be considered a real threat to (a fit!) KdB who will probably operate as a false 9. Which leaves a choice between Rodri and Ferna. Sentiment clearly puts me in Ferna's camp, but I think his performance against PSG was so excellent that he will get the nod in a "one off" big game.

had a weird 24 hours and didnt actually know the score until this morning - looked exciting

1) Why did Scott Carson play?
2) highlights doing the rounds?

thanks all, not normally like me to be so in the dark

The footage of Scott getting hugs and congratulations from Eddie and the team and support staff after the match was fantastic. It really does appear that we have a truly bonded set of players. Hats off to Pep for fostering this spirit.
How many appearances is it for a PL winners medal?

I believe that it’s at the discretion of the club who are given a set number to award. So no min number any more. In previous years some clubs have had extra medals minted. I suspect every City squad player will get a medal. It’s the way we seem to work and I think it’s great.

A grand design then? 5 min from Waverley?

What a wonderful game of football, credit to the Elephant man for setting his side up so well and working the counters, maybe he had spoke to the swamp child manger.

In what was a meaningless game we played with as much freedom as i have seen for a while, our centre halves were regularly joining in the attack. Which of course gave them the space to counter. It did lead to an entertaining game though that i really enjoyed watching although maybe it was helped by the fact it is the first game for months where there has been no pressure.

It was a nice touch giving Carson a game, also quite clever, because if one of Eddy or Zack picks up an injury he could well be needed in the CL Final and having a game under his belt will do him no harm at all and as he is the only member of our squad to actually have a CL winners medal his experience could be vital.

We didn't play with the same intensity we have of late, which is understandable with the title in the bag, but that unfortunately shines a light on the back four and for the first time in a long time we didn't look as solid as we have done and made some basic errors. I am loath to criticise anyone for last night, but I did feel a little sorry for Ake, i personally rate him as a defender, he is a proper centre half and has been unlucky this season with injuries, so i am not going to go overboard on him at all, he will be disappointed, but move on and next season he can play apart I am certain, he is too good a player not too. I can see why Pep rates Garcia, he is a lovely footballer who uses the ball so well but he is moving on and he should really, we have 4 better centre halves than him, although I do believe he will develop into a top class centre half in time.

Our ball retention was superb and we passed it very well, we always do when Gundogan is pulling the strings, he makes the game look so simple and he kept us ticking over, whilst Rodri recycled the ball and kept us going forward.

Raheem and Jesus both worked very hard as always, both know they need to step up and impress to get a CL Final start and neither did their chances any harm because I am sure Pep is looking at players attitudes and willingness to keep going in these games when it could be easy to relax and take your foot off the pedal so to speak.

Young Torres was exceptional, all three of his goals were finishes of the highest class with his first being a goal of the season contender, it was quite magnificent. It does make me smile when i see things written like "he was bought AS A WINGER" by now we should know that traditional positions are meaningless to Pep. He looks an absolute steal at the moment and there is far more to come, his finishing is instinct, not many forwards have that natural ability and he has it in spades. The Sergio replacement possibly? I wouldn't bet against it on last nights showing.

Another record broken as well, this is an incredible era to be a Blue, we are truly blessed, not even the great sides in history are achieving the sort of things we are and the scary thing is, I think we are getting to get better and better,

I enjoyed it too. Very entertaining. Well played Newcastle.
