The fact it was against a team that everyone, including their own team, thought they'd steamroll (which they should have done because Villareal were absolutely dog turd) makes it all the sweeter.

That's the point, Villarreal were poor, very poor, they could barely string a pass together.

The whole match was a painful watch.

Utd were clearly the better team but they lost because they couldn't be arsed to turn up, they assumed, like everyone in the media assumed, like UEFA and the pisscan assumed (because Slur Alex was invited, accepted and then declined to hand out the medals) that it was already in the bag.

1 fa cup in 17 years
1 league cup in 11 years

Or Rashford being offside for his awful miss. They couldnt tell us often enough he was offside for his sitter he fluffed but no replays. Likewise never mentioned Cavani looked potentially offside and no replays to confirm.

And VAR seemingly didn't deploy the Raheem Sterling arm hair measurer to ensure that there wasn't a hint of offside on either occasion (generally takes about good 7 minutes to implement)...........
