Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

They were class tonight, because their manager played the right personal in the right system, ours didn't.

It’s interesting how they’ve beat us three times in six weeks all playing the same way and our worst performance against them came with our so called “best 11”.

"We did our best but it was not our night".

Don't tell us we were "exceptional" when we were anything but. We are not fucking idiots Pep.

pep will know and will have the time to say so ? but tonight is not the right time to dig out anybody
a master manager will not have to say anything ? the media outlets ? pep is being the perfect gentlemen and rightly so

That isn't what I said, I said they were a good team - the post I replied to was saying they are not.
They aren't better than us, which was my point. Iv'e said all along that the team I feared more in the CL final was Manchester City, playing like shit and it happened.

'Hopefully we will be here again'

Manchester City
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BT Sport: "It has been an exceptional season for us. It was a tight game. We had chances. We were brilliant in the second half, we were brave and we could not convert the chances as they were so strong. The players were exceptional. We come back maybe one day again!
"I did what I thought was the best decision [on his team selection].
"[Kevin de Bruyne] got injured but that happens in this competition and in these games. We needed everyone.
"The ambition now is to rest but then prepare for the next season. It was the first time we were at this stage. Hopefully we will be here again in the future."

Sterling? You're right. I have been saying on here for 6 months he's been garbage - and then he turns up tonight and in the 1st half was the only player that looked like he was going to do something. The manager picks the team. Not the other way around.
He didn’t look like doing anything other than what he always does i.e. fucking up one on ones, tripping over the ball and running down dead ends…

Their heads went before kick-off, maybe due to the line-up.

We looked so disjointed and unorganised.

No one played well, but at least Walker tried to make a difference.

Could tell after 15 minutes or so, we didn't look right.

It was an awful performance, just horrendous.

Mind blowing to completely change the way we play.
Peps job is to prepare the team in the weeks, days and hours before a huge game like this. I saw no evidence he did a good job on this. We had a bright 5 minutes then after their first foray into our box we folded. This was Wigan again but with bigger stakes.

The team clearly looked out of sorts and springing a new formation for the CL final didn't help. Ferdi should have been on not Sterling.
Can't disagree, but that one player choice shouldn't turn the rest of the team to mush on a night like this. Complete no show.

The players didn't turn up either. It was a collective fuck up
To be honest, we looked too happy over the last few weeks. Pep looked Giddy last Sunday, the players looked too celebratory too.

Chelsea suffered two defeats, so took tonight seriously so as to rescue their season. That is what caused the malaise tonight. We needed our mean face on, & our underdog mentality as we had against PSG away.

We took no risks against PSG & came away the victors. Tonight we took the piss against Chelsea thinking we'd win, & ended up getting what our mindset deserved. A big fat ZERO! :-(
