Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

THE BOYS IN BLUE NEVER GAVE IN. THEY FOUGHT TO THE END. THANK YOU LADS. THANK YOU PEP. THANK YOU EVERYBODY AT THE CLUB FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.
THANK YOU CITY FANS, ESPECIALLY THE BLUE MOONERS.

Our day will come. I’m in tears for Sergio, for every one of those players.

See you next season. I need to go and have a drink...of tea!

After the 1955 FA Cup Final which we lost to Newcastle the manager said we will be back next year.
We were and we beat Birmingham.
So next year will be our year.
Let's hope so but the result will be the same if Pep gets to pick the team. That's Spurs, Lyon and Chelski when he got things wrong. Great manager domestically but falls short in Europe.

Just trying to think about the game and by playing Sterling, Foden had to change position, Gundo had to change position. We also lost the option that Bernando gives us when linking with Mahjez down the right. Bernado having to try to cover for Gundo. Ferno gives us quick break up of play in the opponents half and therefore catches them out of position. Kevin had no room to make his runs, Chelsea were camped in sets of 4 . Sometimes 5/4 especially after they scored. The whole second half. There was no room. We created, maybe 2 chances in the 2nd half. They created 1.

What a wet follow through that was. We were more threatening in the final 10mins when we started to go long and pick up the 2nd balls and loose stuff outside the area, definitely not the Pep way. But we had no cutting edge, playing Sterling in Foden's position was a disaster, Sterling never tried to tackle or steer a player away from danger, he should either have been in the middle or not on the pitch at all. There was nobody in the middle helping Gundogan until much later on, he couldn't do it all himself. Chelsea deserved it and showed that we could do with some very strong physical players in defence. James and Kante were the difference tonight.

We got ourselves in a rut v Leeds, Chelsea x 2 by chopping and changing and losing games. We could have won the prem by 20 points but in the end we limped over the line because shit others were over the full season.
All the chopping and changing certainly never helped in the long term goal, did it !!!!!!!
Or we could have a team fucked by exhaustion by Easter and won fuck all.

We lacked a leader in the middle of the park , Dinho was a big miss even Rodri leads by example and nullifies most opponents , Bernardo and Gundo are superb players but dont have that little extra to "dig in" when the opposition are dominating the ball. A lack of a naturally defensive midfielder was the main reason for our defeat and Pep made that decision , afraid he got it wrong

If you're talking about Zinchenko then you're wrong
Who else was there to blame for not following Havertz ?? Zinchenko had nobody outside of him....schoolboy football ....mark the man nearest your net....then maybe we might not have conceded....if I'm wrong i apologise as i must have been watching another game !!!!

Great management picking a bloke who has been dreadful for 6 months and expecting him to suddenly turn it on in a final.

I’m all aboard the Sterling sale train.
That's a little harsh. But I'm all aboard for selling Gundogun. Worst player bar none

That was all on Peps shoulders fcuking about with the line up that got us to the final

It makes me wonder does he do it on purpose to keep the team motivated for next season using this an excuse to bring in new players.

I'm in no doubt the team that Played PSG would have beat Chelsea tonight.

I don't know wtf's going on, but I still believe In Pep and hope whatever he's doing is for the greater good.

Congratulations to Chelsea too, on the night they were the better team and we got everything we deserved.

The reason football matches are lost and underdogs win games is because teams that play to thier strengths will always beat a team that doesnt play to their strenghts or change tactics to suit an inferior opponent ,Pep has done it a few times now , hope he has learned his lesson this time.
Garbage. How many times have we playedf teams off the park, they've defended like hell and grabbed a goal on the break? It's partly the way we play, and tonight was a bit like that. I don't think we were as bad as most are making out but their defence was good and they hit us on the break. At the end of the day it was a one goal match with few chances. Anyone reading this forum that hadn't seen the result would think we'd lost 6-0.

The manager cannot put everybody in the correct defensive position you need to be able to raed a game and do it yourself....clearly not possible in this case...let your man run at the net allow him to get a shot off and dont put any effort in at the same time ....can somebody tell me I'm wrong in this situation ??
Yes, you simple do not change a winning formation. You can't blame the players for what happened, its not like it's the first time.

Pep tinkers far to much. Play your best players in the best formaion which has won you the league and you win this game comfortably. Klopp or Roger's would have won this.

Peps fingerprints are all over this sadly.

Couple more paragraphs than me but what I’ve been saying this all night and said the same before the game started. pep is a genius but can be very flawed at times
He is a genius, the fact that we’ve been so good this season with the system we’ve played has been all down to his genius. But for some reason in these moments for whatever reason he overthinks and feels the need to tinker and make changes.

when we’ve done so well this season why change in the biggest game of it, as the saying goes don’t break what ain’t broke... and well he broke it
