Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

This might create problems.

I think Klopp lost the dressing room at Liverpool this season because he coached them really badly. If I was a City player I'd have big doubts as to what my coach was going to come up with in a big game.

What if we have a big game against Liverpool or Man Utd next season, and Pep prepares the player, and says this is what we are doing? And its something unusual. We might have a problem between coach and players.

We don't have a clue though do we. Just coming to terms with another Pep cock-up.
I don't think he'll lose the dressing room but there will definitely be players who start doubting him now

Klopp did lose the belief at a point but to be fair to him the run at the end will have done wonders for that dressing room come next season, they will be back challenging.

its a great post and frustrating but unfortunately we have all seen this movie before haven’t we.

lyon . Important game so he decides to have another I am super clever moment and play 3 at the back with the green (shit) Garcia as the centre of the 3.

he is a genius but the team has been so good this season all he had to do was play our best 11 with our usual formation the players are used to.

in reality all that meant was playing fern instead of sterling at the outset as we usually do and it would have been different.
Couldn’t agree more, unfortunately for all the brilliance of pep, he is also a master of leaving a sour taste long into the memory.
we shouldn’t be thinking about regrets in massive games, it should always be about ability.

There was no player mentality exposed. Pep's mentality was exposed. THere is a coach there who for some reason feels he has something to prove to the world.

His job is to prepare the players. We are the Champions. All we had to do was play them in the way that has seen us become Champions. PSG are better than Chelsea. Why change?

Chelsea are a different type of team to PSG and Dortmund. They are more like United in their approach and we shit the bed against them as well.

I don’t think playing a DM would have made a blind bit of difference. The game was lost because Pep couldn’t solve the riddle to break down Chelsea’s defence.

This side was finished in the 70th minute last night and that is what hurts. We normally play our way right up until the final whistle, we are proud to fight to the end. Instead we rolled over and got our belly tickled.

How many times did Walker or Ederson lump it into the box? How many long throw ins into the box did we have?

We were mentally shot and tactically unprepared that’s the big worry.

Nothing will hurt as much our defeat vs spurs.. But this is not far off especially knowing, how we were setup vs our setup vs PSG, Dortmund

Cheers Pep, you couldn't help yourself, saying that not one player turned up, what is the collective term for shite

We deffo need a striker with height.
When teams park the bus its nigh impossible to pass through, having someone in there with height allows us to cross from all angles & pens a team in.
Don't see why he has to be tall.
Aguero isn't and hes scored 260 goals.

A front 3 last night of Foden Aguero Mahrez and Fern at the back we'd have won.

Sterling shouldn't have been anywhere near that game. James had him in his pocket all fucking night.

A disappointing finale to an excellent season.

Fairplay to Chelsea.

Enjoy the summer!
Nah....yes, Chelsea played well, Pep did what he always does in big games, over-thinks and fucks it up....no way sterling should have started and no way fernandinho should have been on the bench! Honestly, sterling should be sold, boy falls over his own feet....

I actually wonder whether this happened last night. The team vibe was strange. I imagine they will have thought the same thing as we did - is he over thinking this? And some of them already bear the scars of Monaco, Liverpool, Tottenham, Lyon. I wonder whether some of the senior players - Dinho, Kevin, Walker - might have voiced some opposition?

Said last night, like all geniuses he , Pep, is flawed, serious flaws, and often against the lesser sides.

This is no slur on Chelsea, who rightfully won last night but City have better players, better coach, but last night we failed badly, did not remotely justify our ability.

Well, at least he left the brainfart to the final this season. Hopefully he will leave it to the supercup next season.
One last thing. In the last 3 games against Chelsea, Pep didn't play our strongest 11 or formation- and we lost by one goal every game. A day later and I still can't get my head around it.
Oh well!

No matter what your job is, as a team you perform better when you all know exactly what your role is, know how your role fits in with the system and trust that all those around you are performing to the highest standards.

I honestly think that all of our players went out on that pitch last night not knowing any of those things or, at the very least, having some niggling doubts.

I still can’t quite believe how bad we were, even with the tinkering it was just awful.

I think it showed how reliant we are on a system and once that’s gone the players can start to look lost pretty easily. I genuinely do think the tinkering zapped the confidence out of the players and the fans

Chelsea can' win the league playing with a counter-attacking team but they will probably add a striker. They will evolve too.
If the strengthen & evolve yeah they could win the League.
But who knows what will happen in the summer.
Right now they wouldn't be good enough to win the league that's why they finished 4th & lost recently against teams who sat deep against them like Villa & Leicester.
Tuchel is a quality manager but he is in his honeymoon period.
There will be bad times just like there was for us at the start of the season let's see if he handles it well, abromovic would sack him if he started the season like we did.
Pep had the ability to turn it around.
He deserves huge credit for that - me, u no one in December would have thought we would be Champions.
I'll criticise him when he deserves it like last night but also praise him when he earns it too.
Time will tell mate.
