Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

I think loads of posters have.
The goal was a catalogue of errors
Walker getting caught up the pitch, Stones in no man's land, Dias going over to the right of the pitch to cover, Zinchenko letting his man the wrong side of him.
This is very similar to the Dallas goal for Leeds, Shaws for United and the Ziyech goal for Chelsea.
Caught out on the right and left back and centre halves unable to cover
Considering how lousy the defending was, it is amazing that Laporte could not find a place within it! Very much doubt he will be hanging around next year.

I believe the pilot flying the team back to manchester has decided to cheer them up by letting the team pick the premier film to watch .
They decided on Frozen 2 .

Stones was all over the shop last night, started badly and didn’t get any better. He was pulled all over the place by their front guys & that pathetic defending in the build up to the Pulisc miss....well....had such a good season as well.
Nerves showed, especially early on and set the tone.

Wish folk would stop making out that Tuchel is some kind of messiah had Pep not played into his hands 3 times then nobody would be going on about him .......... Leicester sussed him out ...... a bang average Arsenal and Villa team did the same .......... he’s had a free ride this season with no pressure on him at all ......... I mean you couldn’t have handed him a better semi final line up than a declining Madrid side ........... put it this way 2 seasons down the line he will be at pastures new ......... it’s all well and good this defensive football when it’s working but like Mourinho once it stops then your on very much borrowed time
This. He’s a bang average coach who failed in France and rode his luck to the final with PSG last season. They were given the easiest draw possible to the final and he still almost choked.

I suspect he’ll be gone before the end of the 2022/23 season at best, maybe even before the end of next season. They will be way off the pace in the league once again next season.

To anyone who says that he beat us 3 times this season...so did the Norwegian PE teacher last season. Doesn’t mean he’s a good manager.

Definitely should have made the change after about 30 minutes. We were all screaming for a change because of the gaping whole in the middle which Chelsea were trying to exploit. The goal was no surprise. I have no idea why Pep didn't react. Was he just being stubborn? It was just like the Lyon match. Totally baffling. Chelsea were superb though so maybe they would have beaten us anyway. Kante was inspired. But we never gave ourselves a chance.
Pep's main fault is his stubbornness built on ego.
He decides the tactics and there's no suggestion anybody challenges back.

Mid game changes means he has to admit he's got it wrong, either wrong tactics or being out-thought. Subs come on and more or less just take over the role rather than change the plan, exception being Jesus or Sergio coming on when you can almost sense Pep giving up.

The departure of Arteta may be linked, suspect he did the "are you sure?" the backroom staff are all Pep's gang.
Fern, please join the coaching staff and be the one.

Only thing we can hope is that this is the kick we needed, we got beat badly by the dippers and roared back to win the league and carabao this year.

Fuck knows why we picked both an FA semi final and CL final to change things because we may have had 4 on the table but lets go out in the summer, sign Kane and Grealish and Messi and whoeever fucking else we want and turn this narrative around, we NEED to strengthen and put doubt back in the minds of other teams.

Well one thing is for sure, come the end of the transfer window we will know which players have the desire and fight to stay & want to correct the loss of last night and win the CL (along with domestic success as well)

Thats all I am bothered about now, Pep said he will sit down with the players - those with no desire or fight to want to kick on can leave, regardless of how I may feel personally about said players, if our club put them up for sale this summer then that will speak volumes about them not wanting to stay and fight for their place

Then we can get the players in we need that will push us onto greater things

I assume City are the only club that doesn't play their best side in a champions league knockout game. Is it because we have too many players to choose from?

Won £250 on Chelsea. The easiest money I’ll ever make. We were always going to bottle that.

Yet another hollow CL win for Chelsea though. If you don’t win your own league and win the CL then in my opinion, it means nothing.

Sterling sale this summer would be good value.

If we win the league every season and go out in the CL at the group stages, I’ll be a happy man.

Hopefully this is the kick up the arse the board needs to not stall in the window after winning a title. 3 big signings and retain our title.
I believe 2 signings will be enough.
We have Torres (and Delap) as strikers.
Don't need to blow big money on another.

Also I would add did Pep decide on last night's side at the last minute or have they been working on a plan in training all week with that side? Interesting article in the independent today about how suprised the team were when the team were announced
I think the whole world was surprised, & unsurprised in equal measures. :-|

nope I was referring to the team to which that post was quoting
The team everybody wanted
Sorry; haven't had much sleep as I got home about 5-15.
Did better than three cousins who had to disembark due to technical problems and are stuck in a hotel in the middle of nowhere as the city centre ones are full of fans.
And their tests and paid airport parking have expired. - They now fly back late afternoon.
