Good question.Does playing for England mean that much to him?
He also knows that two years of bench warming and occasional Carabao Cup starts, on the back of a couple of seasons of decline, would effectively kill his career. He needs to be careful what he wishes for.I dunno, feels like sterling's got the power here, given the covid market I imagine he'll sit tight, we won't be able to sell this summer and then next year with 1 year left he goes pretty much where he wants with a couple of exceptions.
If he wants to stay that's different but not the vibe he's been giving off really.
I hope not. Players holding out for pay increases in this covid-19 world whilst playing in front of empty stadiums and all the staff laid off who would normally man the concessions and facing eviction can do one.Is City willing to meet his wages demands? That’s the question
A bit harsh, he looks near to burn out to me, I wish he would pull out of the Euros, a long summer holiday would do him the world of good.Given his performances the past 18 months, playing at all doesn't mean that much to him.
Nothing like him being played to death and then pilloried as the reason for England's failure like 4 years ago when he puts yet more of these "performances" in, so he comes back still knackered and mentally shot.A bit harsh, he looks near to burn out to me, I wish he would pull out of the Euros, a longer summer holiday would do him the world of good.
I'd honestly sell him if he thinks he can start playing games like this.
Especially with the season, he has had.
We already have a replacement in him with Foden
It keeps being asked, but with good reason.....Sell him where?
He will sit on his contract and leave on a free, that i suspect is the only way a deal could be found with a new employer.
So you're in the camp now that Grealish only happens if a forward gets sold?Nope, that would be the Grealish networking and connect a lot of dots.
30 pieces perhaps?I think someone like Silva would be the replacement for Jesus if he came forward with an offer.
Agreed, and he will be guaranteed to be one of the fall guys if things go wrong.Nothing like him being played to death and then pilloried as the reason for England's failure like 4 years ago when he puts yet more of these "performances" in, so he comes back still knackered and mentally shot.
He's been without a boot deal since he left Nike last year, so his reps can't be that sharp. His New Balance deal has taken a long time to finalise, was first reported at the start of the season.Raheem has been without an agent the last few months and that won't have helped.
We wanted to keep Sane also, but want to avoid a similar scenario of having to broker a transfer from a position of weakness.
Raheem recently signed a new boot deal, so his lawyers are obviously up to the job, you would like to think?
It could also explain why Grealish is on a list.
Personally, I think City are in a tough spot here if he doesn't sign.
The only leverage in a down market, going into next season, would be him not playing regularly going into a World Cup year?
Agreed, unless we somehow utilised him for another top player?
As I said yesterday though, outside of Madrid and Barca, he's not leaving for anywhere better at present.
50m for Walker was not a reasonable price at the time, it's proved to be somewhat of a bargain, but most people thought we were utterly off our heads paying that much. Its not exactly like that. After all tottenhem is a selling club. They have to sell one day or the other. They sold, walker, modric, bale but at a reasonable price. I remember with walker they were quoting the prices of some other defenders and sold in a reasonable price to us. Similar with modric and kane and even with berbatov and keane. Yes he milks maximum out of his players ( with selling money or service) but if he doesn't sell right time and right money then spurs next big player will not sign a long term contract.
Plus he has asked kane for final one more year last year. That didn't go well. He will not stand between kane and him winning trophies as he knows spurs aren't going to win trophies any time soon.
Does playing for England mean that much to him?
And also playing in possibly the most uninteresting world cup locations (Qatar) ever.
Waspish. Fair shout. He is 27 later this year and I don’t think he will want to waste what should be one or even two of the best years of his career. He’s on a reported £300k per week which is obscene when set against his limp performances this season. if he wanted parity with Kev he needed to turn up more this year and show that he was worth it. I think he would suit PSG and if he wants to exit then fine for me. Cant see others taking a punt.Sterling might think and is relax to sit on his current contract and leave when it’s up he will have two years left to ponder put feelers out also! Yep city might get an offer from PSG but Sterling can say no thanks!
be a shame if that does happen he has been brilliant for and contributed to us winning a lot of trophies…
I hope not. Players holding out for pay increases in this covid-19 world whilst playing in front of empty stadiums and all the staff laid off who would normally man the concessions and facing eviction can do one.
Possibly, but I can imagine a lot of players preferring to be anywhere but Qatar.Again, we only see it through certain eyes.
The next World Cup is likely to be Sterling's last?
