It’s when I’m reminded that people like you exist I can then understand how ‘normal’ people let the Nazis take power.

It’s not the point that they are just things you don’t want to do.

Yeah, I’ve been massively critical of how dreadful our approach to this virus. Not locking down soon or hard enough killed thousands more people than necessary.

We’re just about to come out of the other end of the pandemic and you’re moaning about a few weeks of slight restrictions?

Its not worth the energy.

Yeah, muddling along. No blood vessels are close to bursting here.

Went for a walk to our local waterfall earlier. Peaceful and spirit lifting.

Hope you can find peace soon.
I’m fine thanks luckily. Hell of a lot of people won’t be at the moment though.

majority of us just don't want hospitals filling up and going into another full lockdown - so we need to be cautious and not just say 'f*ck this, just open up'

The oddballs and loners in society have loved seeing everyone else as miserable as they are. And I know that’s the case because I work with one and asked him

absolutely spot on.

I think those who don’t go out a lot and go to gigs or socialise with lots of friends and family , or go on holidays quite enjoy things carrying on As they are.

Add to that the WFH Covid dividend , many are quite happy with the restrictions continuing .

boris did say he would level up the country Tbf .

Is there any data been released from the test events ? The scouser experiment and wembley and the matches . Did it increase cases?

N Ireland data

The contrast with Scotland could not be more extreme

1 death (though an older one so may be discounted) - was 0 last week

80 cases - was 84 last week

Rolling 7 day total 488 - was 484 yeserday & 525 last week

2 Care Home outbreaks - was 2 yesterday & 4 last week

17 patients - same as yesterday - was 27 last week

0 ventilated - same as yesterday - was 1 last week

There is just 1 of those 17 patients in N Ireland sick enough to be in ICU - though not on a ventilator.

Will someone tell us what the exit plan is?

There will ALWAYS be coronavirus and there will NEVER stop being variants that ‘could’ evade vaccines and ‘may’ be more transmissible. Different parts of the world will forever be at different stages of immunity or infection and so please can someone lay out the exit plan because I cannot for the life of me see one. The flu vaccine is literally created by guessing which variants will around each winter because they change so much.

For all the talk of conspiracies and great resets etc, it’s getting to the point where they start becoming believable because the reality is even more ridiculous than the conspiracies.

So all those that keep telling us ‘we just have to wait a bit longer’ and shouting down the likes of @BLUEMATT23 please tell us

1. WHEN do you think things will get back to normal?

2. WHEN do you think people will enjoy freedom to travel

This is a serious question because we see lots of people advocating restrictions based on new variants and infection etc but seemingly no acknowledgement that this will ALWAYS be the case.
You're just tired of running. Stop you lose. Keep pace with it and when most people have immunity to the WT, and we have a 2nd generation vaccine, that is when it starts running through mud it slows and we exit this

It was 3 weeks to save the NHS to begin with. It was then 3 months. It was then vaccinate the vulnerable. It was then vaccinate the over 50s. It was then vaccine all adults - which is where we are now - with about 75% of the population with both doses by the 21st June. Kids are next.

you’re not being honest with yourself if you truly believe you won’t be wearing a mask in 12 months. I get you don’t really mind. But it’s not the point.

Scary depressing times.

Absolute meaningless waffle.

What happens when a variant that ‘could’ evade the second generation vaccine and ‘may’ be more transmissible appears btw? Which it will.

they won’t do that though.

even if he does release us on 21 from restrictions I am sure it will come with strong recommendations for safety.

so advisable but not mandatory to wear masks especially if vulnerable or not vaccinated.

so for example if the tram is full I would wear one but if relatively quiet I would not.

there will be basic advice and recommendations and people will have to behave and take responsibility for themselves but nobs will be nobs.

Wearing a mask is irrelevant to me. It’s no hassle to whip one out of my pocket and wear it where needed.

So...years then? Not being facetious. Genuine comment.

So Northern Ireland & Wales today:

Population 3.2 + 1.9 million

combined 5.1 million

Cases 129 Deaths 1 Patients in hospital with Covid 36 On Ventilators 3

Scotland 5.5. million

Cases 835 Deaths 4 Patient in hospital with Covid 110. On ventilators 8.

Very different outbreaks you would have to assume because of vaccinations (Wales is best in UK) and not much new variant.

England yesterday on same basis - has a population of about 10 times both the above numbers.

And yesterday had 3486 cases (1158 in NW) (647 in Greater Manchester)

11 deaths

801 patients in hospital

116 on ventilators

Closer to Scotland than either NI or Wales - especially if you regard the NW or GM as a block.

Not really spot on tho is it? I've averaged over 60 gigs a year for the last 20+ years. Travelled the world extensively, and socialise more than i should. I miss all these things, a lot.

In no way am i happy for things to carry on as they are. But, would i be arsed if they push back the date to re-open everything. Absolutely not. The last thing we wanna do, is royally fuck things up again for the sake of a couple of weeks. I went to a gig last week, it was different. I went for a meal, went to the pub, saw mates. We're hardly locked in our homes. If we need to be a little more patient now, so be it...
