Erling Haaland

Every year there's a player that City are heavily linked with early that just doesnt get done. Koulibaly, Jorjinho, Sanchez, Cavani, Isco (a few times), Messi - hell let's go all the way back to DDR. The links are so strong we're mocking them up in sky blue shirts and fantasizing about team sheets.

Then City buy someone else far later in the summer. Half the time it works out and half the time it's egg on their face. Haaland seems destined for this bucket of players rather than one that actually gets over the line. The question for me now is Kane also headed here

That is true but Kane fits that description more than Haaland tbf.

I would say if we ended up with Silva and Ings there will be some seriously pissed people on here, same with Felix.

The point I am trying to make is the club don't always look for the Hollywood reputation footballers. Some times we can find slightly leftfield players and make them stars.

I personally hope we break the bank vault open and get Haaland but equally would not be surprised if we just spend 40m on Silva.

Would you be pissed off if we ended up with felix?

Say their mooted interest in bernardo was genuine, he wanted to move, and the clubs pulled a swap deal. Gets a forward in, makes room for Grealish, and still lets the club go for Haaland next year for his release clause, when more room in the squad is made. Felix is flexible enough to play in one position (not his best) this year and drop behind the next if Haaland comes. And, the club get two top players at an excellent age that fit the profile, as well as graelish in too.

I personally would be delighted with Felix, I think he would become a superstar under Pep.

But, is he a striker, a goal scorer?

Felix and Haaland, would be a wonderful summer in my humble opinion.

I don't disagree on felix, at all. Said as much myself previously. But the club have been interested before, and as we've seen with laporte dias and others, where the club have an interest, they will try again when there is an opportunity.

I've also said previously, before the Bernardo to AM rumours, that I could see the combination of felix this summer and haaland next, as somewhat more likely than kane and graslish this summer. For a combined say 180m over two seasons you would get two top players that fit the profile, as opposed to spending 200m in one window on two players of a higher age bracket. Just my opinion obviously.

I’d rather be optimistic and apply that logic to Mbappe ;)
Mbappe I've just immediately discounted on the assumption he's Madrid bound when his contract expires. However when you take romance out of it ànd ask who will be playing the bigger games and winning things in the near future then City are an attractive option. We pay well, treat the players well, have big games in the league and hopefully will go deep in the Champions League again

Mbappe is likely Madrid bound... but there are some things in our favour such as being good mates with Bernie and Mendy, Pep is our manager, playing in the Premier league, oh, and we win a lot of trophies.

People discount any chance of mbappe coming on 3 assumptions.

- supposedly hates mancester as a city and club, because of one thing he once said years ago about why he chose to stay in France.
-psg would never sell to city
-destined for madrid.

-first one, total horseshit.
-second one, maybe a bit of truth to it. But if psg could get 100m for him this season rather than him leaving for free next season, and land ronaldo and his profile as a replacement now, would they just flat out refuse yo take our dirty arab oil money? doubt it
- third one, again some truth in it on the basis he had posters on a wall, and fits the profile. But doesn't rule out a rethink or other paths, particularly if they don't come in for him this season, and he has options both summers.

It is one on the unlikely shelf for me. But not an impossible one to rule out.

I'll give you that MBappe doesn't hate our club per se, but as a city to live in - really I don't know either way.

MBappe would command a world record transfer fee to move from PSG - and as he's never expressed (to my knowledge) any desire to play for us whatsoever - this indicates that we'll be luke warm at best in pursuit of him - and he of joining us.

Extremely unlikely that we'll sign him in the near future.
