Seasoncard - 2021/22

At my age I am getting a bit tired of having to learn a new technology. Just got my head round a smart phone and now I have to learn all the apps that go with it.

Mobile wallets are great, it’s a convenient way to keep everything in one place without having to bring 10 different cards and bits of paper around. I don’t even take my wallet out with me anywhere these days.

And when yer've done that, Fred, the fuckers upgrade the operating system and nowt works like it used to. Same with the the telly! Said to Mrs Ewing t'other day when I turned on - Look at this, why's this all different! Absolute pain in the arse!
 
With these new-fangled tickets on phones I suppose the little plastic 'credit card' season ticket is a thing of the past, and what about the tin. Don't tell me they've abandoned the fuckin' free tin stuffed with goodies. If I tell 'em I haven't got a phone would they gimme an old-style plastic credit card, with the option of a photo on it, in a tin with 'stuff'?

Lots of smartphone owners don't have an NFC supporting phone as it tends to be mid to higher end phones that do. The club should offer it as an option but I'd say you should be able to choose a card as previously if you prefer one.

Not sure where you live but I went to Tesco's this morning to self serve, 10 tills, glancing across and the majority were paying on phones. I paid contactless with my card but the majority were definitely on phones. Likewise, I went to fill up and when I came to pay, 3 people in front of me paid on phones, I felt like the odd one out with my card. Seems some areas may have more users of technology than others?

The posher part of Salford but my job involves driving all around the UK visiting my customers and even with reduced visits I'm still doing 30k plus business miles a year. I rarely see anyone paying by phone for fuel at motorway services and I reckon it is still confined to a small minority, even at Costa, Starbucks etc. Same for pubs and restaurants.

If you frequent hipster coffee shops in major cities maybe you only see payment via Google/Apple Pay and Bitcoin :)

can't they just have a season card and fully vacced up card ? all in one ;-)

one side your supporters number and name etc the other you vaccination details ;-)

Apple Pay is on target for 10% of all global card transactions. Looks like they are getting bigger and bigger. My card will soon be defunct and your fuel visits will no doubt see more people whipping their Apple phones out. Progress they call it apparently. Give me a season ticket book any day of the week.

That Apple Pay stat is about what I thought it might be. It will be heavily weighted to younger users in major cities. It isn't heavily weighted towards Manchester City seasoncard holders though :)

I’d imagine 99% of adult fans in attendance have a phone on them at the game. It’s 2021 and not 1921 after all.
