Just tuned in now, the headline topic is child migrant crisis, it is only Kent that has a "crisis" because the system of sharing Asylum seekers around local authorities is fudged because of inter authority politics around budgets.



They have an academic on talking sense and are putting the arguments against "illegal immigrants" but are doing it in a very tepid manner.

It reminds me of TalkSport where they sort of generate discussion by being a bit controversial however so far they've been as controversial as Theresa May running through fields of wheat.

They've banged on all morning about the England players taking the knee but all they've said is that there were a few boos and some cheers too... Current headline on the screen is "England players booed and cheered for controversial gesture", it's really hot stuff!

SITREP - John Barnes was just on saying he supported the players taking the knee or not taking the knee...

I wonder if there's some paint drying somewhere.....

The magic ingredient that is missing to generate controversial discussion and strong opinion (like talksport / talkradio / lbc etc) is the nutty members of the public phoning in. The only way they can make it interesting is to put deliberately combustible panels together like the bbc does with question time. Once they start putting some woke trans-rights eco bod in the studio to debate climate change with Katie Hopkins they then lose their stated aim of respecting each others views and agreeing to disagree in a civil manner.

I see on Twitter that most of the presenters are shown in profile as they don't know that they need to look at the camera - its shot in semi darkness ( then they are creatures of the night ) - and the sound and pictures are not in synch. Looks like they need an even richer sugar daddy?

It's the nutter on the bus meets the clubhouse bore.

It takes skill to deliver this kind of thing convincingly, the fact they've been unable to get Ferrari and Morgan is telling. Those two have the combination of nastiness and narcissism required to make this channel a success.

Their angle on taking the knee is a case in point, they cover all the right wing culture war bases, but feel compelled to make the case for Kick It Out, even going as far as hailing it as a success, not only is that clearly ridiculous, but it shows they don't have the courage of their convictions, there's no audience to be found there.

Clever right wing TV covers these things in such a way as to make it subtly clear they don't give a fuck. Their audience needs to come away knowing that what they really mean is black folk, and they mean black men, bring this on themselves, because they have a proclivity for crime, particularly drug, gun and knife crime and when they're not fucking around leaving a trail of illegitimate children, the better educated ones are pulling down statues and blaming white folk for all their problems.

If they're able to crack that they'll be a success.

There's a big fat lie at the centre of this channel, it's the bollocks spouted by Neil at the outset, the one about covering the news "we" are talking about, not the Westminster bubble.

Predictably they proceeded not to bother to find out what we're talking about, instead they told us what we're talking about, like freedom day (that they want now) and the knee (that they want stopped). But polls show that the public want an end to restrictions only when it's safe and that the general public are broadly supportive of players taking the knee and the rest not particularly vexed either way, with the boo boys very much a minority.

It's clear these bad-faith actors are peddling this crap to further their own agenda, under the guise of giving voice to the man on the Clapham omnibus.

Always be wary of those who declare they're giving voice to the silent majority.

With any luck one of their dodgy lights will short out and burn the fucking place down.

It's absolutely horrifying seeing our most senior cabinet figures taking their lead from the PM and continually dog whistling the Tommy Robinson crowd. I can't quite believe what has happened in the USA and now here.

Correct, basically it is propaganda TV in the same way the Mail is propaganda in print.

It will talk about the issues that their owners want them to talk about, it will be like Spiked where that pompous prick Brendan O'Neill sells his soul for coin.

It is the sort of TV that suits people who rote learn, they can answer questions but never question answers, This channel will just be a diatribe of unchallenged propaganda that suits the wishes of the owners not the public and it is no coincidence it appears after months of defund the BBC stuff plastered all over social media. Good luck to them, they will find their audience, an audience that no doubt shows how patriotic it is by booing footballers who represent the country they purport to love and an audience that thinks Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are Marxists. Bless em.

Your silent majority point is a good one, a statement popularised by the disgraced former US President Nixon who used it in a speech in 1969, he saw the silent majority as being in support of the Vietnam war and he appealed to them as a means of getting elected. he believed the silent majority were being silenced by a vocal minority who were leading the Anti War movement in America. You are right to warn people to be wary because this unspecified group are often used to justify something that is unpopular or controversial.

In both locations it revealed the true extent of the state of those countries populations - in both places that state was denied by the media and politicians.
 
Just seen their correspondent on the press conference - is that what its like? The picture was so out of synch with the voice it looked like he was questioning in Italian and it was being dubbed into English for the benefit of the audience. The Bridge and Montalbano show if you are gonna do that subtitles are better lol
