Next Manager after Pep

He did a very good job at Barca but the tools were there for him to do so. He didn’t need to rebuild and bring in a whole new squad of players. He has done well with all his clubs(except in Europe for us and Bayern) but he has been at places where he has received top class support from two of the biggest clubs in the world and one that is developing into one.

It’s why it’s a fools errand to compare managers some get given jobs with every chance to succeed most are on a hiding to nothing. A genius doesn’t fail so often and for so long in Europe. A flawed one could though.

He has the habit of getting beat by teams with so called inferior managers and players if the Pep acolytes are correct in their judgment of him.

If he doesn’t win the champions league while he is here it will be a blot on his copybook that no unbiased supporter can deny. The league and the champions league which is the ultimate prize nowadays is how big clubs and their managers are judged. In 10 attempts he has won 3 of those trophies.

In his first year with us he didn’t have the players to play how he wanted so he did what was expected and didn’t win anything. Should he be judged as a failure in that first season? Absolutely not. Should he be judged as a genius when he wins things with the so called best owners, directors and players but not the big one?

What would be par for the course for a run of mill good manager with the backing he has had? If Pep hadn’t come and say Klopp did who knows what would have happended.

I would guess we would have done better in Europe but had less domestic cups, the league? I have no idea how he would have compared.

The only thing I know for sure is he hasn’t been good enough in Europe. Maybe next year eh.
Jeez - "a blot on his copybook"
  • Pep just won his third Premier League title with us.
  • It now means he's won a trophy every 24 games during his managerial career.
  • Pep has won 10 trophies with City. comfortably more than any other City manager
As a fan base, some of us are getting very entitled and on the current success, the older generations, of which i am one, would have literally only ever dreamed of the current success in the past! WTF can we all not just enjoy the incredible ride we are on?
Yes. the CL will be nice WHEN it comes, but i am more than content with what we have right now and what we will have more of in the years to come.
What an incredible time to be a City fan ............... at last !!!
Fkin enjoy it FFS !!! :-)

All I know is it's a great time to be a blue and long may it continue. We all know our rivals and the media are looking forward to the day when Pep leaves. Hope that day doesn't come personally. Be careful what you wish for ladies and gents. Be happy with what you've got. I know I am and I'm looking forward to seeing what Pep does with the team next season.

Do like the not good enough in Europe complaint about a manager that gets to a European cup final. As if suddenly anyone not winning a champions league isn't good enough despite winning the league and a cup. Not quite sure who they think we'd be better off with.

sat this morning reading all the crap about city players wanting a move and Barcelona trying to poach them
but my question is does pep walk right back into barcelona any time he wants ?

i get the feeling barcelona are after pep big time and trying the old lady trick (we need you) to build us again
pep is that good a manager he could walk right back in there. even if they have a manager half way through a contract and playing well they would sack him and replace him without a blink of a eye

pep saying all the right things about barcelona and big them up every time he asked a question about them
yes i know he's a barcelona man loves the place like we love manchester. but its that little thing for me that does not sit well with me and pep when he talks about manchester city in europe and little history in champions league

we always see clubs popping up like spurs and others getting into finals and without so called history
it bug's me that our manager says things like that because any club can win it if they don't have much history

It's actually really hard to win the Champions League/European Cup for the first time. Dortmund were the last team to win it in their first final in 1997. Valencia, Leverkusen, Monaco, Arsenal, Chelsea, Atletico, Tottenham, PSG and City have all failed in their first final appearance since then.

Not a lot to disagree with.
Itll be a kendall situation again. He’ll fuck iff back to his wife eventually ;)

the list you have put there matey is a good shout. but manchester city should not be seen as a new club to europe
pep was wrong in saying you need history in europe and its why city have not won it ?

we all know uefa and its elite team are why clubs don't win it ? it even took drogba at chelsea to dig them out and call them cheats vs a barcelona side. also lets remember barcelona record of first winning it in 1992 ? history my arse

Pep was given a Lamborghini to drive in fact he was given one by Bayern and Barca as well, he has managed to outdrive other managers in slower cars with a certain amount of panache. However he has just been lapped 3 times by a bloke in a Toyota Corolla.

Some may say get the guy in the Corolla others like Pep will just demand a faster Lamborghini. The wider the gap the more of a genius he looks. Klopps Kia Ceed did show him his exhaust as well.

Anyhoo when pep leaves for another stacked in his favour race elsewhere the best options although two are somewhat unlikely are

Tuchel
Klopp
Rodgers

As stated in another post the bit you fail to mention is at Barca and City he built the Lamborghini, it was not given to him. The year he took over he had a side which had only just qualified for the Champs lge (on goal difference) and 3 pts above Southampton and was at the bottom of the running stats along with the relegated Aston Villa. It was a tired side he took over and even players like Sterling/KDB/Fernandinho were shadows of the players that they are now.

I`ve seen all the names but if/when he does leave then the next choice of manager will be simple....
It won`t be a Spurs, Everton debacle!
The next manager will be whoever we want!
They`ll all be rushing like mad things to be our manager with all the backing, players, facilities!

Yeah we had a fully functioning defence with none of them replacing. We had the keeper already capable to play the new style, and of course what Pep has achieved with the lamborghini was also achieved by pellers with the same "advantage"

The all time records, Centurions, 3 out of 4 titles could have been achieved by anyone else.

Lol crazy talk

Hardly like Kendall, he’ll have done 7 years maybe more with us when he leaves, how many managers have we had that have done more than 7. We’ve had some that didn’t make 7 months.
