England v Scotland | Euro 2020 Group Stage

I don't think he let Fatty Shaw cross the half way line for the entire game bar his effort that nearly hit the corner flag.
But to make substitutions and continue to play Rice is ridiculous absolutely no need for two holding midfielders the entire game.
Scotland had a game plan a pattern to their play, Adams dropping deep with all the time in the world to pick out the wrong backs bombing forward.
In some ways tonight they reminded me of Sheffield United under Wilder using the left and right sided centre backs to go forward as well as the full back and Che Adams playing the David McGoldrick role.

England don't have a game plan nor do they have a pattern of play, It's just make it up as you go shite.
Yep. Declan Rice was completely invisible yet again. The amount of times Scotland picked up space in front of our back 4 was laughable, just don’t see what he brings to the team, funny to say it but I’d much prefer Jordan Henderson in there!

It's where we're really short unfortunately. Che Adams is a step up, but I'd like to have seen a Leigh Griffiths career where he wasn't battling mental health issues. He's a talented player but sadly it's not really happened the way it should have for him.
Agreed. Your midfield is strong with Gilmour and the potential for Tierney or Robertson to step in and create lots of chances but who will score the goals? Perhaps you should play the false number 9 formation. You never know. It might work.

Feel sorry for Stones when he plays for England, he brings the ball out defence and he knows that two of his passing options will probably pass the ball straight back to him and the one player he could have given to is either 40 yards up the pitch or has been withdrawn by a clueless manager.

Well done Scotland from a City fan.
1 I don't buy into this arrogance by Engerland.
2 it was pointed out tonight that refs have had a good tournament, then we need ours to step upto the mark in the English league.
Provesa point how bent our league officiating is.
I, ll be having a lump on the Rags winning the most pens again next season.
Coincidence???

Bit random here but what the heck has Southgate ever done as a football manager. Nice bloke an all but basically just another yes man at the helm. It's all just rather boring and uninspiring. Why can't we have just have an attack minded coach that will lift the spirits of this England team and it's fans.

Bringing on Rashford. I had to laugh.

How did he even make the squad? :-)
Southgate subbed Rashy in the first game to play on the right and in tonight's game subbed him on to lead the line upfront as the target man, by the end of both games he had already drifted to his happy place on the left, vacating the jobs he was brought on to do.

I honestly believe that with the right man in charge, this England team would have a decent chance at winning it. With Southgate, not a fucking prayer. He should never have been given the job in the 1st place but then somehow fluked it to a WC Semi. He’s no fucking good and is dragging a team of talented players down to his level.
The FA have a long history of appointing the ‘safe’ candidate.
Goes back to the 70’s with Cloughie, giving it to Ron ‘safe’ Greenwood instead.
They're the Bain of every red blooded English supporter, playing it safe! The FA have been the ruinination of every English national team from then to this day!
They are spineless no-marks who will never knowingly leave them selves open to criticism by appointing the ‘wrong’ manager at the cost of the national side down the decades!
It won’t change!

I couldn’t deal with the negativity from the itv commentators tonight. Constant moaning about England. It’s only the second game and we’ve got 4 points. I think that’s a pretty decent start.

You’d think the world had ended listening to them tonight. And my god yes Grealish is a good player, but you’d think he was the second coming of Jesus... for about 40 minutes they would not stop going on about him

Problem with that is imo it requires a few runners with some pace around the false 9 which happens to be the other department we're lacking in. It's a hard situation and I think Steve Clarke is excellent but he does find it difficult to set up a side to be on the front foot, it's very much a case of being solid defensively and making the most of any attacking situation you get, I fancy his sides more in the bigger games than some of the so called lesser sides where we're maybe expected to win.

Don't know why Foden got subbed tonight btw. He looked like the one England player who was always getting on the ball and looking to make things happen, I'd love for Scotland to have an attacking talent like that coming through.

I genuinely think Scotland will beat Croatia. After seen Croatia in the first two games they were poor, Surely Scotland will fancy themselves to turn them over.
First game against the Czechs I think the occasion got to them, Far more settled and professional performance tonight. Good way to be heading into a massive game.

Englishman Che Adams and the big Aussie Dyke did well up top for the Haggis/deep fried Mars bar munchers.A deserved point

Painful to watch, last ditch defending, no midfield, Kane outmarked and forwards all completely ineffective.

We have the arty, fancy players going forwards but we still and have always lacked that world class anchor in midfield.

It's not surprising though because it isn't like kids are taught how to dictate play, it's all kick and rush and going for glory.

Imagine what those players could do if they didn't have an EFL standard manager?

He's gonna be there for years as the FA love him. More national talent wasted.

The English Wenger without the talent.
