Harry Kane

I would be very surprised if all this noise about an imminent Kane bid didn't have some truth to it. I am going to recklessly predict that when / if the deal gets over the line it will somehow be unveiled at close to 150 mil one way or another

20 appearances for a 19 year old hot prospect in a 60+ game season isn’t unrealistic. Foden got 38 appearances in 2019/20 when he was 19. Granted he was around the first team for much longer, hence thinking Delap can aim for 20 with starts in cup games etc.
Not really that laughable is it.

We should make a chunk of it conditional on winning the champions league, will save a fortune

Your final paragraph indicates what we should have been doing with players like Kompany, Aguero, Zabaleta, Silva etc rather than letting their contracts run down. We should have been looking to get replacements on the books and sold them one or two seasons before their contracts expired.
Our biggest problem is that we pay players too much to be able to shift them.
Not really the same, there was a lot more sentiment and respect there and they were also operating at a relatively high level. It didn't seem they wanted to go anywhere and we certainly wasn't going to be kicking out legends of our team because we thought they were past it, we just let things end respectfully with end of contract. We didn't need to sell Zaba or Silva to bring in Walker or Bernardo, other teams might have to but we don't which is why we are so successful.

If you want the best you have to pay them, no?

It's laughable that you've (presumably) followed this side for 5 seasons under Pep and you think Liam Delap is going to play 20 games - 1/3 of our games.

If he played 5 he'd be doing well. If he got near 10? Incredible. More than that? We've been fucked by an injury crisis like we've never seen before. Even before we spend £100m on a striker, I'm pretty confident that Torres, Jesus and multiple false 9s are all well ahead of him in the pecking order.

He's been promoted to the first team squad, that's great. Tommy Doyle got that same treatment in the press 2 years ago and has played 7 games in 2 years.

Foden was "in the first team squad" for 2 years before he played more than 10 in a season.

If Delap was about to play 20 games for us, he'd have been on the bench a lot. In reality, he didn't make the bench after the January covid crisis. He wasn't even on the bench for the 4th round of the FA Cup.

And that was an extended bench with 5 subs that won't be there next year.

Also he's 18, not 19, which you probably know also throws all your poor Foden comparisons out by a year.

Pep isn't giving a kid 20 games in his first season promoted to the first team. Sorry if that's news to you.
