Well he did argue in the same interview that Barcelona should sign Sergio Ramos. If ever there was a player that wouldn't feel the cule love at camp nou, it would be him.

It is mental. The guy had a contract till 2025. Just ripped up and released. Thanks and adios.

Must be a financial penalty for that surely, they have to pay him off in some way.

edit. He had a release clause of €300m! fucking couldnt make it up.
 
its a popular spanish tv sports news show, like sky sports but mixed in terms of reliability, theyre debating about messi's situation and whether barca should let him go to save money or keep him etc, alvarez who is like tier 3 reliability said that barca dont rule out the renewal tomorrow

they love to dramatise stuff so you just know theyre loving this

He probably took a deal of a year or two’s salary, no way he walks away from four years on his contract without a settlement. Even some of that might well be deferred since they’ve had to do the same with the wages of players they want to keep.
They will still be paying millions a year in wages in 2024/25 for players who will have long since left the club.
A scandal that they are allowed to get away with it
