He was convicted of careless driving, which he plead guilty to.
He was never breathalyzed.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say he was drunk.
Either that or he literally doesn't know how to drive, which would be equally cuntish to get behind the wheel.

I strongly suspect you are correct, but its not correct to label him as such when he has never been proven guilty of the offence.

Fair enough. However, rich people get away with almost anything while innocent poor people often go to prison.

I would also argue I don't need to wait for the system to process him. I have seen the video. I can see he was drunk driving. He only didn't get charged for it because a. he never got breathalyzed and b. because he plead guilty to the lesser crime.

Whether Grealish was drunk or not, Sterling still never did anything comparable.

So the whole "believe in the system" and "innocent until proven guilty" doesn't sit so well with me.
I mean, OJ Simpson was cleared.

Mate,i think the CJS is a fucking pisstake but, like this discussion, thats for another thread.

In fairness no one knows what either of them do in their private lives, the threads are about players ability at playing football. Why people feel the need to guess a guys personality is beyond me. They both might be playing for us next season let’s see what they do on the actual pitch.

I mean, I literally just watched him crash his car like 5 times (while drunk).

I'm not guessing his personality at all.

Fwiw I would like him at City next season, seems like a top player and he may well have put all this shit well and truly behind him.

I have yet to meet anyone who hasn’t done anything really stupid in their time. You are guessing his personality because no single action defines it certainly not forever.

He bought some gold taps, the cad.

That's why we bought the huge Mercedes Garage, somewhere for JG to park his car.

Yet statistically speaking, Sterling’s output for us last season was very similar to Foden’s, who was one of our better players last season.

I also think a lot of the criticism Sterling gets is by those who don’t understand the type of player he is.

He’s not a Grealish, Sancho, Foden type player who are creative forwards. He’s a finishing forward who is more likely to finish a chance than create one.

People also assume that because many of Sterling’s goals are tap ins, that any player could score them. Therefore, why playing a player who offers little in the creative department and only scores tap ins when someone like Grealish could play and do the same job and more.

This ignores the key skill Sterling has which is his movement and being in the right place. Yes, any player could have put the ball in the net like Raz did yesterday. But not every player would have been in the right position at the right time to do so. Which is why Raz remains a top class player.
The thing is, excellent movement IS creativity. Fans just don’t have a metric for it that they can lazily point to in the way they can for assists. Add to that his superior ability to progress the ball than anybody else in the squad and you have a very potent mix of a player.

Sterling has not only scored 3 but has been Englands most creative player this tournament.

Gen Q. What do you mean by progress the ball?

I mean progress the ball into more dangerous areas and phases of play.

He can (and isn’t afraid to) carry the ball long distances from the middle of the field into dangerous areas around the box, drawing in defenders that creates space elsewhere.

his goal against Germany was a good example. He picks it up and despite 4 players around him he just drives forward and takes them all out of the game. One of them was Rudiger. He then passes wide and runs into the space Rudiger vacated, before finishing the return ball. Players without that ability would have passed initially and allowed the German players to regroup.

BBC: SouthGate Praises Sterling
To deliver them at Wembley will have been really special for him and, as you said, the goals return is incredible," added Southgate, who highlighted Sterling's two-goal performance in England's Uefa Nations League win over Spain in October 2018 as a "real lift-off moment" for the former Liverpool winger.

Fuck off, he was made in Manchester....they should get fuck all credit

Looks like he's on the Dodgems...

Finding form in the Euros. Although he was out of form last season I still valued him highly in our side... a poor run of form will eventually work its way through.

One thing I don't think he's getting enough credit for is that little run he made before the goal.

It looks extremely basic. He takes the ball about 10 or so yards and lays it off to Kane. But it's so effortlessly brilliant.

Over that short distance, he not only breaks a vertical line, but he takes out 3 defenders with a few short touches, before a 4th with the pass.

I don't think people realise how difficult that was. There's an extremely limited number of players in the world who have the close control, acceleration, agility, and intelligence to do all that. I can't even think of 5 other players who could've done that. None of the other English players could, and I include Foden, Grealish, Sancho, Mount, and Saka in that.

That move was so important, because that's the reason Germany were backpedalling so much, because Sterling changed the whole attack.

It was why at the 2018 World Cup every team double marked him, because that ability to drive through the middle is lethal. Literally outside of having a David Silva style genius who can position himself perfectly between the lines for receiving passes, the next most dangerous thing is having a guy that just run through. Those areas are always the most promising for an attacker to have possession.

I do feel a bit OTT typing this out though, as Sterling at the time probably didn't think much of it. He just saw a gap and went. But it's like Aguero smashing it in the near post; it looks simple enough but only he seemed to be able to do it, which is the measure of his quality.

Excellent post.
