Tbh it does seem that unlike last year where Messi genuinely wanted out, this year the issue is on Barcelona's end.

Bartomeu being gone is a big deal for Messi.

"He said he wanted out"

a year ago!!!!!

"He's ran his contract down and is now a free agent"

he's with his NT in the semi final of an international tournament!!!

what do you mean "not omitting" you're absolutely omitting crucial stuff just to look at reality from the perspective that fits you... not gonna argue further but don't try to claim you're not omitting reality to fit what you want to happen

Last year when messi wanted to leave he sent a fucking fax and made it clear to every journalist he wants to leave. everyone said it. now suddenly even the most anti barca sources in spain aren't saying he wants to leave. what do you make of that??

that doesn't mean he'll stay, because they can't afford him, but fucking hell people are living in a fantasy world..

Even more reason to want a contract.

If he comes then I’m going to enjoy every second of it, if he doesn’t then so what? He’s just a poor mans Shaun Goater anyways - let’s remember Messi doesn’t have a whole day dedicated to him in his native Argentina does he? Nope, our Goat does - it’s no coincidence it’s the longest day of the year either to commemorate the sunny uplands he betrothed upon us.

So what if I am? :) No need to get so mad about it.

Didn't know Argentina celebrated Shaun Goater Day.

Maybe he wins the copa and packs it in, goes back to Newells as a player coach or something. Winning an international trophy would finish that part of his career. He would forfeit his huge wages to Barca potentially saving them from ruin and if possible just make him even more of a god in Barcelona.

Or he gets knocked out tonight, goes back to Barca and sits in his mansion till Laporta has shifted half the team so they can afford to get him his pay check.

barca are the type of club to completely self destruct, sell everyone and bend every possible rule just to keep messi, even if it comes with the realization they will become the next ac milan. too many prideful people in that club to heal it.
I would piss my bed every night for a month if Barcelona unilaterally kicked out half a dozen first team players in order to resign Messi only for him to turn around and say no thanks, I’m off.

And dare I dream that we could yet see Sergio back at City next season?

So the obvious question is why barca want to sacrifice half of the team to keep messi ?
Is it about pride or is there any conflict of interest?

I'm fairly confident they will find a way to resign Messi. I just think they're likely to destroy the club doing it. It's going to be beautiful.

And they're going to join Alexis Sanchez and Dani Alves on the list of guys who really should have taken City's offer while they had the chance. Everyone knew that keeping Messi was a bad move last summer- everyone except them.

Hopefully their 3rd place finish and UCL thrashing in the R16 was worth wrecking the club.

It’s like keeping a pet who you know is in pain and needs putting down, it’s selfish and only for you. They are panicking that their cash cow is going, Barca has been built on the back of him and instead of planning fir the future without him they have been blinkered. Whether he stays or goes the realisation to them is they are fucked either way.

The CEO of Rakuten (Barcelona's main/shirt sponsor), asking barca for an explanation about the discriminatory remarks from dembele and griezmann

Translation:
"As a club sponsor and tour organizer, I am very sorry that the FCB players made discriminatory remarks. Since Rakuten has endorsed Barça's philosophy and sponsored the club, such statements are unacceptable under any circumstances and we will formally protest the club and seek their views."
