That's a stupid throwaway phrase. We spent 90 million on 4 players last season. Only spent around a third of that so far on BuendiaBut let’s be honest villa are already spending the fee anyway .

I agree he won’t kick up a fuss but that doesn’t mean he won’t ask for a move. Admittedly you don’t need the money but he’d bring in a huge fee.
I don’t think his alliance to Villa will make much of a difference. Footballers are aware their careers are pretty short, I don’t think he’d spend his golden years at Villa instead of at, say, City competing and winning trophies because he’s a fan.
If Villa’s ambition does come to fruition then it could take years for them to be competing. He’s too good to wait for that and should be doing that now.
It took us 3 years to win something after the takeover - might not seem like a long time but I’m sure when that’s pitched as a progression plan, a player might feel differently.

I didn't support City signing him but emotionally Southgate was a coward to substitute him. Easy decision contrary to ethics. The lad dealt with it well.
