I 100% agree with you. I watched the game on RTE 2, almost all the replay clips showed the view from in front of goal and the ones from behind the goal started at the point just before he was going down. But there was one and one only clip shown from behind the goal which started as he entered the penalty area which showed Maehle's first attempt to tackle him, it was a trip and Sterling just ran through it, no attempt to go down. at 4.05I’m sorry but I’m really struggling with it was a dive stuff. He didn’t dive. He was running at pace. He was clipped. Now some may say the contact was minimal. It matters not. He was running and twisting at pace. You get clipped you know about it. It knocks you off balance. A dive is an unnatural moment. For instance the penalty against us vs Liverpool. Ruben put his arm on Salah. He felt it and dived. That action was a not natural and that is what I would class as a dive.
I’m really struggling with the need to pin crap on Raheem and fit in with the whoppers who follow England etc and are constantly looking for anything to take a pop at him because he has the audacity to give his bollocks for the English cause. He’s been the main man this tournament for England and it must be difficult for people to accept.
It’s mind boggling really and instead of really looking forward to Sunday I feel I’m defending city/sterling to people and it’s getting boring. Obviously I hope England win Sunday but I really hope Sterling gets the winner.
I thought this was why the penalty was given and couldn't believe the guff from Hamann etc. but they never showed that slightly longer clip again. Also the review was longer than most of the reviews in the tournament plus the ref. apparently was not advised to look at the pitch screen, which I think suggests the officials were satisfied that it was a penalty. I hate diving, whoever the player is but this imo was not a dive.
