Raz is pretty much a striker today, deployed against Chiellini and Bonucci’s lack of pace. Back 3 with wingbacks, the 2 holding midfielders, Mount as a 10 with Sterling and Kane up top. Plus, Kane will drop deep, meaning Sterling really is a striker today. That’s what I expect anyway.

Which is a pretty good tactic to us considering the lack of pace they’ve got in defence. If the formation back fires, there’s plenty on the bench to turn the game around.

Can he get any more defensive!!!

We have all this attacking talent and we're at home, we should let them worry about us!
I said the same for the Germany game, but after having thought about it since then - he’s an inexperienced coach who only has a few occasions a year to work with the squad. Like Pep has said when he first came to City, it’s more difficult to get everyone to understand and play in an attacking sense than it is to be more cautious in approach. To get a national team playing attacking football, it has to go through the whole set-up of football in that country from youth teams to the senior teams and the national team.

I also think, at this level, it’s too easy to lose and go out and then that’s it. In club football there’s a league format to make up for dropped points, and more than one cup competition, and they all happen every year. In international football the tournaments are only every two years. I think it does make sense to be cautious and then bring on more of the attacking players as the opposition tire.

It’s not often anyone outside Brazil and Spain are adventurous and successful in international football. Even France were defensive minded and cautious at the World Cup, and look at their squad.

I also think that Foden and Bellingham will become major players for Southgate, possibly at next year’s World Cup but certainly for the 2024 Euros in Germany. They will make us more attacking in midfield. By then Southgate will be more experienced and probably more adventurous n’all.

Yeah it’s logical. Nobody can say Southgate isn’t getting his tactics right. This will be a slight tweak on the Germany shape. It’s 3412 instead of 343.

Best national anthem out there, but I would still boo it if I were there today. It’s not the opera, it’s a football match in our home stadium, a major final. Do people seriously think Italy wouldn’t boo GSOQ if the final was in Rome? Our country has gone soft.
I was taking the piss mate anyone can do what they want… weird thread Italy are the designated home side for this match. Not been a fan of this new format go back to one or dual nation for me on the hosting of the tournamen.

italy and England have had a bit of advantage in this competition,

Mounts done more defensive work than attacking so arguably just the two proper offensive minded players!

On a serious note, do you know any Scottish people who say, “I don’t give a fuck about the Scotland team, I only support Rangers / Celtic / Aberdeen etc.” or is this just an English trait?
Yes, plenty say that and to be fair, if you had a team as consistently fucking awful as we do, then you would be surprised there isn't much more. I think a lot say it as a security blanket, to immunise themselves from the inevitable arse handing that is always in the post, First Class stamps. It's not easy being a nation of passionate football lovers when we are utterly shite. That's why we deep fry everything, it's a tasty way out of the misery through heart disease and strokes.

I think it was a one-off for the 60th (*61st) anniversary of the Euros.

Next one in 2024 is in Germany.

I am a simple bloke who supports City and wants them to win every game and competition they play in. I get wound up and nervous when we play the big games, and was ecstatic when we made the CL final at last, and gutted when we lost.

There is no conflict between the two. I just have twice as much opportunity for delight, happiness and disappointment. Feel sorry for those that have passed up that chance.
As a City supporting Scot, I only have a single opportunity for delight and happiness. Plenty opportunity for disappointment though.

Good luck to the England team tonight, I hope they win in style. Raheem with the winner of course.

What a load of shite on Sky Sports news
“Gareth Southgate urges England fans not to boo the Italian anthem, when fans boo our anthem it urges us on”
Fuck off you total wetwipe. Like no-other fans boo any other country’s anthem.
Always the English, the English disease blah blah
At Celtic park ages ago….Scotland can boo fuck out of ours and sing anti-English songs but if we respond with anti-Scottish/Irish songs our F.A. bring out statements apologising for the England fans behaviour.
It works both ways - if you can’t take it….don’t give it.
If i was at Wembley today and the Italians sat next to me boo’d our anthem, too fucking right i’d make an example and boo fuck out of their’s!
Liverpool boo Sterling all game so guess what……i’m gonna boo fucking Milner!
Stop being mard-arses, what next…..not allowed to cheer if they miss a penalty!!!!
Come on England, if nobody boo’d anybody’s national anthem, that would be perfect - but unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world
Lineker saying the same on LinkedIn, borrowed your wet wipe description, sure you won’t mind
