For me the scenes outside and inside the ground were as upsetting as the result.
Regrettably hooliganism is alive and kicking with England.
Disgraceful endangering women and children.
Did Hillsboro teach these morons nothing?

Agree, This and the racist abuse has put a real downer on what was such a great tournament for us.

Until I miss, at which point I’ll revert to being a cnut. And every City fan will crucify you for allowing me to take one.
Talked to a few people today who asked me why he didn’t take one, they were quite happy when I explained he was about our 4 th choice taker and the 3 ahead were pretty shit at penalties. Can’t believe any City fan thought he should take one, I was releived he didn’t, can only imagine the abuse that would follow a Sterling missed penalty.

Last two points

You said he wasn't brave enough to take a penalty, the conclusion and opposite of not brave is cowardly, I didn't really have to go far to put those words in your mouth tbh
Not remotely....just because someone isn't strong enough to lift a weight, doesnt necessarily mean they are weak.

As for the rest,we clearly have different standards/expectations.I can live with that.

creative midfield.

This is the problematic part, in my opinion. The one visibly weak area. No blame on Phillips and Rice. They do what they do, and they do it pretty well. But midfielders with creative vision? Mount has really failed to impress me, right through the tournament. Just don't get what the guy is supposed to bring to the table.
I wonder about moving Phil back and playing him deeper, actually. There's Grealish, too, who was underused in this tournament.

Raheem: "Hey Gareth, you've seen me in training along with Steve Holland and we both know my record is not as good as others in the squad but I insist, in fact I demand I take the 2nd penalty. You also know I I've done it before in a high stakes shootout against Chelsea in a LC final and I deserve it because I've not let you down this tournament. Also it is something the fans expect to see.

Gareth: You know I make the decisions with Steve and you knew the criteria before the game. Aside from that what about your record since the Chelsea shoot out Raheem? What have fans got to do with anything?

Raheem: Well I've scored 1 out of 5 since then but this means more.

Gareth: Fuck off (but phrased politely)

Raheem 'i am a striker, but i'm a bit shit at penalties,so i'll take the easy option and pass the buck'

If we all decided to not do the things we don't like at work,i'm fairly sure we'd quickly find ourselves unemployed.

He's a senior player,he's 26,he's someone other players and fans look to for inspiration......and yet he isnt capable of taking a penalty?? That isnt acceptable and it doesnt sit right with me.

Unfortunately it seems it's another area of his game that lets him down, and another one that prevents him being top class

Agree totally re. both players, I think Mount is overrated and thinks he's better than he is; as for Grealish, I don't think he's as good as the hype suggests but I feel for him in this tournament. You only had to look at ET 2nd half v the Danes, they didn't have the ball for almost all of the first half of ET, then he takes off the one player who made a real difference when he came on and decided to defend against what had been a non-existent Danish attack.

That match last night was screaming for Grealish at HT. Kane did naff all again, why was he on the pitch? But the big question for me is they keep saying Southgate trusts his players - so play them then!

I agree with this. The whole excitement going into this tournament was that we now had exciting young creative talent such as Grealish and Foden to compete with the best. Instead of using them we reverted to type, playing fearful nullifying football. Some people see getting to a final as success but from about the 30th minute onwards we were hanging on for from death. Foden holds down a place in a Pep side that is the most successful in England but can't get in midfield ahead of Mount, Rice and Philips. It is football played with fear and it ended in the same way as it always does, heroic failure. Let's add some flair and skill, what have we got to lose? We lose anyway

Totally agree, he's a striker so it's part of his job in my opinion. Surely he has to be a better option than Saka or Sancho?

I touched on this in another post (first paragraph) and it's no surprise to read what you've posted.
England fans are conditioned to failure so as soon as they see a team reaching a semi or a final its good enough for them and they will stick with Southgate for as long as Southgate wants to stay. Style of play matters not one jot to them
They fail to see that we could achieve much more with a less cautious manager who can get the best out of the riches of talent at their disposal.
Spot on.

Absolutely spot on. I've been saying exactly that for years, how can we lose something we've never won? I didn't buy the crap about Foden being injured either, but to be honest we weren't good enough to be there anyway. Can't blame the Danes for feeling aggrieved,
