As much as he is a very good footballer I can’t help but think it’s 80/90 million that could be better spent else where. I feel we are quite well stocked in the areas that he would play whereas we are in desperate need of a top class forward and probably a left back. These are the areas that need the most attention.

I have to confess to a liking for the expression ‘head has been turned’. A sure sign that the transfer season has truly arrived.
Outgrown? Villa are a huge club. Has Mings outgrown them too? As I can only presume you are referring to the fact he is now a regular squad selection at international level.
Villa are a huge club yes. But they are not winning trophies. Players don’t give a shit about history Jack maybe a boyhood fan but he’s 25 a career is short in football , You want to win as many trophies as you possibly can, City give Jack that. Outgrown in the fact that players of his talent need to be challenging/winning trophies every year Villa are not that team. They may be on the up you know close to challenging for Europe etc but a premier league is way off compared to the financial juggernauts at the top of the table.
I think the club only targeted grealish as they expect Bernardo to be off. If bernardo hadn’t asked to leave I highly doubt we would be even looking to strengthen in this area. Much better player? Come on the hatred for Grealish on here is crazy. Hes good, real good with an end product. Would be a great addition . My reading of SWP's move to Chelsea was that it was as much about City needing the transfer fee as it was about a desire to leave.SWP yes his big move to Chelsea, and how did that work out?
Not good, SWP was a good player in a poor side, very similar to what Jack Grealish is in my opinion.
Irrespective of which I don't think it unreasonable for an ambitious player to seek to play for a club regularly competing for trophies and playing in the Champions League against the best when they are not.
How any transfer works out isn't always certain but players seeking better teams to play in and sometimes more money will always happen.

Villa have 90m reasons why this deal is a good'un for them.
Keeping Jack is not going to give them that return.
Take the stupid money and invest it wisely in 2 or 3 quality players.

I don’t hate grealish I really rate him I just don’t think his ball retention, tackling and work rate are close to the level of bernardo. I think what Bernardo brings to this team from a defensive and team balance point of view is being over looked. Football isn’t just about goals and assists as you well knowMuch better player? I think Grealish is great and I'll love him at City only Question is what will Pep do to. Keep everyone happy as our attack will be stacked especially with a confident sterling coming back from Euros who would want to start Regularly, Mahrez, Torres, Foden aswell, in similar position
