Political relations between UK-EU

It will fuck everyone over but will fuck us over more. Bit like Brexit in general.

We need to get used to it and stop whining. The EU aren't going to do us any favours at all even if it causes them pain in the short term because they are taking the long view just like we said we were when we went for a hard Brexit. The difference is they will notice the problems much less than we will.

No they definitely won’t do us any favours. And nor will we do them any. Both sides will want to do what they think is best for them.

Nobody should object to that, where I struggle is where one only cares about making it worse for the other and fuck how much it may also hurt them as well in the process - it’s counterproductive but both sides seem so entrenched it’s hard to see where relations go from here.

We made this mess and the brexiteer view is that someone else should fix it.

You are right that small firms will suffer, British small firms not EU ones. And as for medium sized firms, many will be evaluating how and where to locate there operations and as things stand this is another reason to relocate to the EU.

This has nothing to do with location. The majority of all commercial contracts globally, in existence today, are governed by English law. These contracts can go out for decades. You can shove your HQ on the moon, it won’t change the contracts you have.

To paraphrase.
"Where one only cares about making it worse for the other and fuck the consequences".

That's been the attitude of a sizeable group of pro brexit posters just on here, from the start, let alone the leading exponents of it.
All warnings of where it would lead went unheeded.

Short of a change of government were stuck with it for a while now.

You nailed it right there

It's surely more embarrassing for the people who dug the trench.

40 years of smoothing the path and we voted for potholes.

Again stupid lazy journalism - its not Brexit red tape its our Govts stupidity. We could have continued to produce items conforming to and displaying the CE mark - an internationally recognised mark of conformity and quality control. Instead this set of dicks said we would have our own the UKCA mark. Since that decision was taken the relevant bodies have said that we do not have the facilities nor personnel to replicate the existing tests and award a UKCA mark to everything we make in the time allowed. Furthermore whilst we have to work to demonstrate its a trustworthy mark to the EU we also have to persuade every other jurisdiction in the world that it is to be trusted which awards countries like China and the USA massive leverage on us if we are to be granted access to their markets.

Dunno.
It’s new red tape as a result of Brexit, which is the opposite of what was promised.
Another entirely predictable shit show that was scoffed at by the Brexit fanboys on here coming to fruition.

Yes its come about because of Brexit but instead of applying for continued use of the CE mark this lot felt the creation of our own new ( ie the same but just a replica ) mark was the exceptionalist way forward. Madness and self inflicted.

Delusional Brexiteer in full bullshit mode.

They've introduced a visa charge so we were right to leave because of the controlling nature of the EU.
If they hadn't introduced a visa charge, it would have been hailed as a triumph for Brexit and a poke in the eye for Project Fear.

Being a Brexiteer means being right all the time however much it costs or inconveniences us because all the negatives are the EU's fault which justifies the decision, whereas anything negative that was expected and didn't happen also justifies the decision.

Politico also reporting that businesses face more Brexit delays ‘...the UK government now expects migration from the so-called CHIEF IT platform to the long-delayed Customs Declaration Service to be completed by September 2022 in the case of imports, and by March 2023 in the case of exports.’

Personally, I rate the chances of us hitting even these extended deadlines as...remote. Grealish will have long seen out his City contract and we still won't by close :)

Corrected for you...

The British Government was an enthusiastic supporter of that measure when it was proposed in April 2016.

That was before the referendum so we had no idea it would apply to us as a 3rd nation, but yeah, the frustration of the brexiteers regarding our new status in the world is astounding. They knew what they were voting for they repeatedly told us.

I forget the precise details of human reaction to hearing awful news, but I think it's denial, anger, then acceptance. Something like that, anyway.

I don't know which stage of the first two she is currently at, somewhere between them perhaps, but there is going to be a huge plate of humble pie eaten at some stage when she realises the newspaper she writes for with their furious and angry headlines (and awful weather predictions) is nothing more than a dreadful rag that promoted the decision to leave for decades. She wholeheartedly backed that decision, wrote her crap for years about the EUSSR, and is now incapable of understanding what it means for us to be out of the EU and how it affects us.

She won, so what's her beef? We have 3rd nation status. It's what she wanted and what we have.

she has been on SKY News Paper review tonight further embarrassing herself with her " I am right your views don't matter " attitude........interesting for a supposed libertarian. If she keeps this up virtually any viewer could probably have her sectioned.
