Come on mate, there's no way we're not making the phone call. I know that Pep's camp and others will be saying no, I get that. But there's no way we leave a player who generated billions of Euros in his time at Barca and is the most popular player in world football ever who we have been chasing for a decade and decide we're not talking to him. That's madness. There's no way we're run that badly because he hurt our feelings.

Not saying we'll get him, but cannot believe we're not in for him. Heavily belief that City and others will brief we're not. But you know as well as I do that Messi is a once in a lifetime player and it would catapult the CFG's commercial interests into the stratosphere, especially with a New York backend. Soriano and Berrada have probably been walking round with a permanent hard on since they found out.

Undoubtedly.

Why wouldn't they?

It's highly unlikely Levy will budge on the price, a price the club isn't willing to pay. It won't be us leaving Kane out to dry. It will be a case of his club pricing him out of a move. That's not City's problem.
Well we'll see but I pretty much guarantee you Messi will not be at City so I'd stop getting your hopes up.

Y’know what. When you put it like that. I agree. Let’s see what happens. But let’s also hope that we don’t drop the Kane ball and not get Leo again!

The way I see it is that we simply *have* to sign one of the two now. If we fail with Kane in a summer where Messi was available on a fucking free transfer and we ignored him, then we've absolutely messed up on a catastrophic level. I genuinely believe that. Which means I think we'll get one of them, which isn't bad.

FWIW, they're only human our board members. The more an idea starts to seep into your head, the more things can change. I bet one of them, be it Pep, Txiki, Omar, Khaldoon, Ferran or the Sheikh himself will be drinking a coffee with their breakfast this morning thinking '....what if?' - and once that's inside your head it becomes very hard to let go, you tell one of the others and they start thinking the same thing and it suddenly snowballs. I can't say I know business very well, but I know people, and they're predictable with these kind of things!

I'm almost certain they will have a conversation about it at very least, and if they decide not to - well, back to my earlier point. They've just gotta get Kane.

Not true, we have backed him all the way and at the last minute we pull out and leave him high and dry, we would be completely out of order.

It would damage the clubs reputation If we were in the same position anytime in the future.

I never said he will, however Pep will know the situation. If he has spoken to Messi and Messi really does want the move. Then like i said, the rest will be history.

Regardless of Messi we should still be going all out for Kane. He’s kept his side of the deal by staying away from Spurs, I’d feel very uncomfortable if we fucked him over now and I think it would damage our reputation amongst other players and agents. I believe we operate better than that. Plus we need Kane and he’s younger than Messi.

Thats not to say if we can get both then we shouldn’t try.
Kane, Grealish and Messi in the same window, lol that would be pure shithousery of the highest order mate

If City are serious about getting Kane & or Messi we need to start moving a few players out. The squad needs a refresh. Time for ruthless city to emerge.

Jesus & Bernie for HK & LM- get it done. No disrespect to either player, both have contributed greatly to our success.

I hope it happens I really do but imo it's 100% not going to happen he'll either renew somehow at Barcelona or join the farmers league.
I think PSG are in the exact same position as us. They don't care about anything else and they will go for Messi and work it all out later. He will probably end up there in all honesty because I think they'll offer a better overall package than we will.

I think United are in for Messi. I think Inter are in for Messi. I think Real Madrid even probably asked the question. I think every football team in world football is getting their abacus out and contacting him to see if a deal can be struck. People are talking like this is a really big player as a free agent. It's not. This is the biggest footballer ever available for £0 transfer fee.

It would be like watching Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky come on the market for nothing. Everybody in the sport is going to try and make this work.

I disagree the only dream for the marketing man is NYCFC, Messi would be a cash making machine for them, for MCFC , I am not having it.

Old generation get Messi, do the kids now? I don't think so.

The kids are the ones with the cash, they are the one's this club and marketing people want and hence one of the reasons for signing Grealish.

I would imagine a lot of young ladies have become new City fans following his signing.

Absolutely mental post.

Don't build your hopes up for the fall I'm sick of the Messi bullshit now every year I get giddy and the little twat does a u-turn.

Everyone here is talking like Kane has done everything he can to get the move. His actions was more out of desperation. It wouldn't be us letting Kane down, it will be a case of him letting himself down by signing that ridiculous contract, he only has himself to blame.

How about a transfer request Harry, forget about your loyalty bonus.

Kane can do what he wants

it’s down to Spurs if they sell him or not

I know Pep and Txixi make the squad decisions for us but once the dust has settled in the next few days,no way our executives don't have this conversation. This isn't about City alone it's about the whole CFG franchise.Messi in it,on a FREE,is enough for Soriano and Berrada to step in and make it happen. Might be more of a case of Team Messi picking up the phone

What has Messi ever done?
