City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Must be embargo bit, broke at 10.30. Pep coming out swinging.

Amazing ain’t it, it’s as if we’re not allowed to spend any money at all. Seems to be the fact that the raggies we’re smashing records for/and over inflating transfer fees for as long as I can remember appears to have been completely forgotten about. Soon as we do it it’s headline news but of course there’s no agenda

So if we land Kane, and the deal goes up to £150m with the add ons, you can be sure we're going to get absolutely slaughtered. It will 100% be reported as 1/4 of a £billion spent, which is correct, but sounds a lot, lot more to the casual observer.

However, if we do spend £250m in one transfer window then we all must admit that every time we take the pitch it'll be mentioned and if we don't win the league/CL that will generate it's own headlines.

Our owners are Abu Dhabi, US and China based though. And one guy in Abu Dhabi. They know this but play to a racist gallery.
Remember when Shinawatra owned Manchester City, the media went crazy. There were calls for City fans to boycott the club. And yet the Leicester City owner who operates a commercial operation at the concession of the Thai military junta is regarded as an example of how to run a football club. I have nothing against the Leicester football operation just the way the media portray our club. We have to remember that the media are owned by companies who sell news to make money. So there is a market in racism and prejudice.

Same applies to every club that invests in transfer fees or wages.

Messi going to PSG, do PSG have to win the CL for this deal to be a success? there is an argument they do.

Chelsea have spent big on Lukaku, do they have to go and win the title?

We are already the Champions, if we spend 250m to we have to go and retain the title and go one better in the CL?

The UK media will always twist things to suit the narrative.

The media don't push racism, they push division.
Divided populations in-fight and blame each other for their strife, not the actual culprits.
The David Attenborough analogy of the 'ants in a jar' is a perfect representation of how the media works.

Yep. However, for some reason, we're held to a different standard.

Yeah which is why when I see people talk about how he doesn't get the club because he lost some derby matches I become so irritated.

The guy stood up for us the entire time during the FFP stuff (and as seen by the Super League stuff, he didn't have to) and to top it off gave a great fuck you speech after the CAS results came out.
The whole CAS situation , form start to finish, was I believe Peps finest hour since he joined the club.
If he wasn’t fully, truly committed to every part of this club from top to bottom he only had to keep quiet about it and deflect questions like most managers would have done “this is for the chairman“, “I manage the team, we concentrate on the next game” type answer etc, and the whole cHarade would have built up an even bigger head of steam with headlines daily that Pep was leaving due to “City’s cheating”.
They tried this for about an hour until Pep stood up and announced loudly and very publicly that he had total faith in the club and no matter the outcome he was staying at City “even if we are in league two”.

I don’t care if he sells all our star players and relegates us to the conference. For what he did during the uefa ban he will always be the best man and the best manager City has had in my lifetime.

Our manager.

Totally agree. He was the right man at the right time.

I would go so far as to say the best signing MCFC ever made was not a player, it was this man.

Could someone explain what United's issue with the Glazers really is? And if their issue relates to lack of owners investing? Has it stopped them from spending massive amounts that allegedly 'the club generates?' what is it really? Their argument always circles back to, in essence; 'we had a proper business model, and so we could spend all that money, and it was our right, built on success and fanbase and the size of our club etc etc.' Really? How else is anyone else meant to compete in Prem? I don't quite grasp the issue here of us having a different model causing their meltdown.

Basically in a nutshell.

Totally agree, in fact the way they bought the club with none of their own cash was business genius at it's finest.

They don't like not winning trophies so need a scapegoat.
