What's likely true is that we've considered it, which is what caused him to delete the tweet. But since then he's had the chance to dig a bit deeper and draw his own conclusion.

I doubt this is just City briefing him as some kind of spin (although maybe). If you're really eager for Ronaldo then it might be worth noting that Gaughan didn't use the most overly definitive language, which means that there's still a chance of something.

I don't get this ego thing at all I keep seeing people put it down like it's a terrible thing! the guy gets the team he plays for winning things. Yes he looks foolish with his jumping celebration but that was for self promotion and it worked!

I wasn't really saying it as a negative, I was saying I can imagine him refusing just because of the number not being available.
