Nobody else was in for any of the players you listed. Bayern wanted debruyne the season after if i recall...but not when we got him. Serling didn't have any other interest, mahrez didn't, grealish was offered around apparently too and there were no takers for the money we were happy to pay.

We just shrivel up at the prospect of fighting for top players it would seem...truly release clause fc.

When Pep leaves City in a few years, we'll look back and realize that he had to manage with 2 CMs as left backs, a DM as CB, a striker in a winger's body, another striker with legs made of cheese strings, a talisman who can't stay fit to save his life and a CM who broke his back and couldn't play for two years. All the while winning every domestic trophy that exists and dragging the club by its feet to the CL final. And we will be left wondering what could have been if he was actually backed - if the club had actually bought the players that he asked for.

Treat it as a transition season, hopefully we can get Haaland next season but not confident with how we have been this summer

We’ve got pep for another 2 years, not really sure a season of transition is where peps head is at. This summer was supposed to be about getting a striker in and we haven’t for various reasons. Couldn’t really give two shits about ronaldo, but I know pep will not be happy going into the season without a recognized striker. Still hopeful this season will be successful, but if it’s not then it’s really a fuck up on our part not giving pep the right tools.
