Arsenal (H) | Post-Match Thread

I don’t care that we only won5-0… because I achieved a very, very big ambition… I met and even more importantly spoke with my all time City hero… the one, the only, the legend that is RICHARD DUNNE!
And he didn’t mind having his photo taken with Eccles Blue who realised afterwards that she was wearing a daft hat. He must have thought what am I letting myself in for!! His son took the photo. :-)
Keep that photo, Dunnie!

Great performance from nearly all the team. Who needs Ronaldo or Kane?
We were lucky early on that Arsenal were so shite because Ederson’s two howlers would have been punished by a decent team, but overall Arsenal offered nothing and we did what we had to do and took advantage. Could easily have had 3 or 4 more goals.

Not sure if swapping Jesus’ and Torres’ usual positions was genius or just a lucky throw of the dice but Pep got it spot on and they’re much better on the right and in the centre respectively rather than the other way round.

We are the embodiment of a 'team' - no room for prima donnas like Kane or Ronaldo who want the spotlight shining solely on them and who live for their stats. We share the goals and assists around. Makes it difficult for opponents to focus on stopping on just one or two of our players.
I thought there were too many misplaced passes in the first few minutes and Walker had a difficult first half by his very high standards. Once Gundog bagged the first they collapsed like a deck of cards. Bernie set the tone with his skill and energy and then Jesus and Torres had excellent games. Great to think that Sterling, Mahrez and to some extent, Grealish, haven't really been needed to make a big impact yet and we've still got KDB and Foden to come back. Loads more to come from this team - could be frightening when we really start to play in top gear.

Report
Just finished work, I followed the match on the bbc, great result against a poor arsenal team?
They started really strong and we struggled at first, scored with our first attack from nothing. At 2-0 Ederson got bored and decided to fuck about a bit and they nearly scored from a blocked Ederson pass. Result never in doubt, Bernardo in tears when subbed and gave a 360 degree clap to the crowd.

We were very good everyone played well but I could understand if Grealish would be a bit frustrated because he didn't get a pass and if he did, he didn't get a pass in a dangerous position, it reminds me of when we signed KDB, Yayas didn't pass to him either so I guess he needs a bit of time to settle in but I hope it doesn't come at the expense of his confidence because that wouldn't be good, just drive the ball to the opposition that's what he needs.
To be fair he was doing that late on. He's like a kid in a sweetshop at the moment but I think he's going to be very
influential for us.

Savage display.

I’ve been saying a while now that Torres has a touch of Ronaldo about him, and it was on display again today.

Jesus looked great.

I don’t know what to make of Arsenal, what have they become?
Has Robbie come out of retirement? ;-)

Yep, who needs a 36 year old Ronaldo when we’ve already potentially got a 21 year old equivalent.

Him and Cancelo haven't built up an on the pitch relationship yet but it's still very early days. Jack is easing himself in without pulling up any trees. No worries that he'll be a major player for us by mid season.

We MUST NOT allow Berni or Gabby to go anywhere.
The game was really fast and movement was difficult to track when they were on the pitch. It was evident as soon as they both went off. The intensity dropped massively.
Can't we just buy Bernardo a sun-bed and a fresco of a beach with tourqoise sea and palm trees? He could sit in his appartment all day and pretend he was in Spain.

After watching this game it sank in that Pep is worth at least a goal a game with his tactics. I am not convinced that Kane or Ronaldo would have made a big difference today. Maybe the big matches are different . Its not just having a CF in the big games that makes a difference, its appreciating that you have to change tactics when you dont always have 70% control .
Torres reminds me of a young Ronaldo, very powerful shot. Give him time.
To be honest a CF would be great, but truthfully would prefer to keep Eric and Bern at this moment in time. Just hope the Bern scenario does not relate to his pal Mendy.
Never in my lifetime have I seen such glorious football...CTID.

Enjoyed watching that like the way Ferran is developing. Worried that Bernardo was clapping goodbye to the fans as apparently he was upset on the bench, we played really well, Arsenal are really bad feel sorry for Arteta after what he did here with Pep. Ferrans challenge now will be Leicester after international break to see if he can play that number 9 role against a difficult team. If he can I’ll be more than happy about not getting a striker.
